Hi everyone!

So I'm just beginning a re read through of the series. I bought the Complete Wheel of Time for my Nook so that I could go straight through, and also because I didn't own any of the books past Winter's Heart. I started reading the first time through about 15 years ago and read through Winter's Heart. I felt that because I was younger then, I may have missed a lot of details on that read through, so I decided that re reading everything would be my best bet.

Right now I am not too far in, still on The Eye of the World. Where I am is just past Shadar Logoth, where Perrin meets Elyas Machera for the first time. I am definitely enjoying this read through quite a bit, having already read 2/3 of the series. I am seeing a lot of the foreshadowing I missed on my first read through, and it's adding a lot to the overall experience of the series. I'm looking forward to sharing and discussing with everyone as I go! :)

Hi there! Yes, I feel that I always find something new at my reread  And I've done that a lot. We do have a reread together right now, we are at book 9 now.

I've just started a re-read too! I'm still in the Two Rivers though so I'll see if I can catch up. :)

It's refreshing being able to read something again, and to find new stuff while doing it. Makes it feel worthwhile to re read! If I happen to catch up before you all finish the series, I would love to be able to discuss! :)

Oh, so not too far behind! :) I only get a few hours a night to read, if I'm not busy. It would be nice to have someone to discuss with to get some of the thoughts in my head about me re read out.

I started a reread right after Jordan*Con and am still in EotW (what? I spend all my free time here!). I'm a tiny bit ahead of you, but not by much! Perrin and Egwene are in the Tinker camp right now :)

And yes, even though this is probably my 7th or 8th time reading this particular book, I'm still finding little places of foreshadowing or clear indications where
Rand is channeling and/or suffering from the effects thereof.

I actually just passed where Rand and Mat get separated from Thom at Whitebridge. It is interesting actually seeing him doing it and to know what is going on, rather than just thinking something is strange without knowing what happened.

:D Sweet!

Btw, that's a great avatar!

Oh, thank you! I spent quite a while trying to find an avatar I actually like that wasn't taken.

How is your re-read going? Anything you've noticed that you didn't before? I enjoyed seeing how Min interacted with Rand in Baerlon. Obviously at the time of my first reading I had no idea what their future together would hold, but reading it again it made me laugh a little. :p

Did you catch the first hint about Moiraine and Thom? At least I thought it was a hint; and may not be considered so by other readers.

I have seen maybe one or two lines so far between them that might hint at something more, but whatever I've seen so far has been very subtle.

My hint was how Thom made Moiraine laugh when they were trying to intimidate the rowers in Taren Ferry. Thom stood nonchalant flourished a knife, and started trimming his fingernails. Moiraine laughed wholeheartedly. It was such a strange emotion to see from her with all the seriousness and build up at the beginning of the book. If a guy can make a woman laugh, he's got one thing going for him :)

I'm not super far yet, just leaving the farm on Winternight. But I'd forgotten that more than our Terrific Trio saw the black rider before all the excitement began. So far I still think Tam is the most mature person in the WoT universe. :p And Thom's well on his way to being my favorite char. I've always liked Mat, but Thom's seriously fantastic.

Until a few years ago I had no real experience with small towns so the boys being proud of how widely traveled they were, having been to the neighboring villages, didn't make sense. And then until last year I lived in a small town for a few years that was very much like the Two Rivers in community, so now I understand better how the Two Rivers folk interacted & why it was a big deal when they leave. Basically, the Two Rivers folk make sense this time whereas my previous read-throughs they were always difficult to understand.

I agree with that. I thought the first time I read it how strange it was that they would be bragging about going to the next town over. I'm sure Tam at the time, and any other adults who had traveled outside of the Two Rivers, would have been silently laughing at them. I enjoyed seeing how much Mat matured throughout the series on my first read. He always still had the boyishness to him, but at the start of the series all he wanted to do was joke around and play pranks.

I actually just finished up TEotW a little bit ago, but I don't plan on moving on for a couple of days. Don't want to rush too much through the series. So I would love to talk more :)

Three observations (so far) today:

Chapter 8
When Moiraine is Healing Tam, Rand can feel her channeling. He just chalks it up to knowing something is going on, but it's the usual goosebumps on his arms from saidar.

Chapter 8
Moiraine is so manipulative. I sympathize a LOT more with Rand's anger this time around. She knew he knew nothing of the world or Aes Sedai and she was counting on that to get him to believe & follow her. She knew the boys' parents and friends would have more questions and would likely want to come too, but she wanted to be the only influence on them. She sees them as tools, not people, and she wants to use them for her own purposes. It's true her purpose is to save the world, but still. I'd probably react just as badly as Rand does. I'd never really see that before, the ends justified the means, but I'm not convinced of that anymore.

Chatper 10
Moiraine told Rand not to tell anyone but he doesn't even hesitate to verify her information and to tell his dad everything that had happened & what the plan was. She could easily have told Tam they'd wait for him in Caemlyn or another place along the way, but again, she didn't want anyone else counseling Rand. But from the very beginning he shows that he'll be his own person. He was awed and a little frightened of Moiraine, but he still disobeyed her request for secrecy right off.
