Official Introduction

**waves** Hello, everyone.

After months (ok, years really) of being able to resist, the temptation to join TarValon.net has grown too strong, and I have finally submitted my application to become a Citizen. Some may remember my last post here almost a year ago. I'm here to participate more fully now, and I look forward to getting to know everyone.

I'm not exactly great with "cold" introductions so I'll copy/paste what has already been posted on my profile page. I'm a "former graphic designer/front-end web developer turned wannabe ceramicist and illustrator who is interested in incorporating classic crafting materials (paper, fabric, thread, etc.) into contemporary applications." I'm also interested in video games (primarily console gaming) and working with yarn aside from those things.

I'm actually re-listening to the entire series, and currently enjoying Towers of Midnight for at least a second time. I read A Memory of Light so fast the first time, and I look forward to taking it easy this time around. I also look forward to giving the new encyclopedia a closer look.

Feel free to ask any other questions.

Edit: My favorite character(s) are Nynaeve and Egwene. Nynaeve is passionate, but Egwene is level-headed. A combination of their personalities is what appeals to me.

My favorite series aside from Wheel of Time is The Belgariad and Mallorean series by David Eddings. Polgara is my favorite character from those books, and I really enjoy the books devoted to her and Belgarath's origin stories.

Thank you, Megana Sedai. Yes, your assumption is correct. You've probably already figured out my online handle is a combination of all three names. "Pol", "eg", and "nyn" for Polgara, Egwene, and Nynaeve since I enjoy those characters so much.

My only question is how on earth could you resist such an amazing place? Why would you want to not be here? Wait, that's 2 questions. Oh well. I'll ask some more just to get your fingers typing. What kind of console games do you like to play? I, myself am more of a computer game-y kinda person but I have to keep my question streak rolling somehow. Do you play any instruments? Do you have 6 fingers on one hand? And can I have a piece of yarn so I can act like a cat and pounce on it? Meow

It's a long story, honestly, and I don't want to bore anyone with it unless absolutely necessary. It boils down to too many politics outside of TarValon.net, though.

What kind of console games do you like to play?

I'm primarily an rpg'er. Fable, Skyrim, and the latest Tomb Raiders are some of my favorites. My kids' Lego games are a guilty pleasure. I like fps games to a degree, but I'm a wimp when it comes to assaulting mobs. I've also recently found out first person games make me dizzy so that in itself has eliminated a lot of fps titles. I'm currently playing Unravel on Xbox and Mario Kart before moving onto Yoshi's Wooly World for the Wii U.

I don't but I've always had an interest in the violin. Too many hobbies at it is keeps me away from it. We recently repaired a miniature violin for my daughter (7yrs) who is also showing an interest in it. Honestly, I'm kinda envious even though it's just too small for even her. lol I'm hoping to try my hand at it if she ever gets to the point of practicing a full-size violin. My son (10yrs) plays the trumpet for his school band. Needless to say our house is filled with all sorts of sounds even if I'm not the one making them.

That's the really long striped scarf, right? Admittedly, I don't know much about Dr. Who. My husband and I have tried to change that (he's not a Whovian either) so hopefully we won't have to tear up our Nerd Cards just yet.

Edit: and I refer to a "nerd card" in the most non-offensive way. You know first hand how much of nerd (ftw!) I am.

Figuring this place out can be a bit of a brain strain but once u get the hang of where things are and how to navigate to those things it gets a bit easier.
"Subscribed Threads" and "New Posts" found under the "forum actions" button at the top left help me alot
