That's so great! I always thought mathematics are amazing, but I don't have the patience for it... I did my Bachelor's last term (Japanese), so I went on vacation pretty early - June 2:nd I think. I'm going to start studying Social Anthropology this semester! I'm really exited, but it's been a while since I studied something other than languages, so I'm a bit nervous too.

I don't think I get a notification either way actually. If there's a lot of people writing, it's easier to keep track if you use quotes, but this thread's pretty quiet right now so it's not really neccessary!

Also on an unrelated note, if I just choose "reply" instead of "reply with quote" do you still get a notification?

Yes, of course. :pleased-1: If you click "settings" at the top right corner of your screen, you will see if any thread you posted in is updated, that is to say, if it has new posts. Regardless of what is posted, you will get the notification. :) Also, Sofia, you need to be subscribed to the thread to get notifications for it. For me, this is done automatically as soon as I post in a thread. If you are not getting notifications, you can subscribe manually to it by choosing the option at the top of the thread called "thread tools" and click subscribe.

Maths are fascinating. I never quite got a good grasp on them, though... It is amazing that you want to pursue it. :D
As for school, my university classes start around the 3rd of October. We get let off at the end of May, but then we have exams in June, July and September - we just don't attend classes anymore.

Wow, Elatheara, that's fascinating! Are there any cool facts you can share? Will you be keeping them for honey or some other reason?

Yes Alyccea we are keeping bees for honey production but I'm also interested in the aspect of pollination for native plants. The University of Florida has a Master Beekeeper Program that runs over a period of 5 years. After we've had at least one colony for one year we can start by applying as an Apprentice Beekeeper.

My husband was the most motivated to start beekeeping because he wants to make mead and we figure, if we are going to brew from scratch then, well, we might as well be using our own honey. Of course, that line of thinking just opened up a can of worms because the more you learn the more you realize you need to learn.

So far the most important thing I learned at Bee College was that it is very important to understand WHY you are keeping bees. What you plan to do with colony will dictate best practices as far as hive management goes. Keeping a colony for honey production requires different management strategies than keeping a colony for queen production. This is all probably more than you wanted to know  but, can you tell I'm VERY excited about what I'm learning? :rofl

 I can, it's awesome! And I mean it when I say that I would love to know more. If you feel like gushing about it some more, that is. ;) What sort of native plants are in your area that will benefit from the pollination? Do you know what sort of flavour they will give to the honey?

I'll use my 25th post here to say:
  1. Thanks for your warm welcomes and aid you have given me
  2. Time to complete and submit my Citizen Application!

EDIT: And now it is done, the wait begins... (At least there is no reason why I can't continue reading "The Path of Daggers" for a while now :) )

I'm working on a post for a thread I created on bird and beekeeping. Stay tuned, I'll post the link so I'm not flooding this thread with my uber dorkiness. :rofl
