Let us wait for nightfall... Then the setting will be perfect to continue our tale.

*Slips off into the shadows to wait for the darkness of night*

Oh man.

I burned my arm on the oven door again today. First time it happened was when I made all those cookies, but it's been going on more and more lately. I'm really starting to think it's a depth perception issue. :(

Or maybe the oven just has it in for you...

I'm with Satrim on this one Illyria. That oven may be trouble, try placing a bay leaf in each corner of the kitchen for protection, then go get those eyes checked. When I developed near-sightedness my depth perception went and it was hard to drive at night.

Cold, it's dark.. and I'm starting to think..you're a big tease..

Bay leaf... Where do I get those? I'm not really experienced with this stuff; I appreciate the advice!

I'm nearsighted. Always have been. But I usually accidentally burn my fingers on the pans, not my arms on the oven. I think this is the third time since February but you'd think my learning curve would be steeper, especially with how painful it is and how rarely I bake.

Illyria, you can find bay leaves in the spice aisle at your friendly neighborhood grocery store. They also help keep roaches away and down here is the south, you know those suckers grow to Godzilla proportions! I also keep lavender oil on hand in the kitchen for burns which helps with the healing.

I didn't know that bay leaves had such an effect on roaches - I have to remember to buy some... We don't get them often, but I could do without them altogether. :x

As a first aid, Illyria, you can also press a piece of raw potato on the burn. It helps, though I don't know how or why. :cheeseeni:

It's generally a good idea to run cool water over a burn rather than put ice on it. The extreme cold after extreme heat can damage your skin and make scarring more likely.

I just make sure to keep some Aloe Vera growing in the garden, the sap is good for all kinds of burns.

I've never heard of vinegar for burns, but I have for stings and bug bites.

I've only ever used white vinegar on sun burns - but yes! It does help. I have pretty sensitive skin and anything else just makes it burn worse.

Of course, if I use white vinegar after I have told myself, "Well maybe petroleum jelly would be okay," and then have to try to get the jelly off, then everything burns no matter what I do. :indifferent:

I do my best to avoid sunburns, lol.

I don't actually put anything on my sunburns. I just deal with it until it fades because I'm terrible to my body like that.
I also never wear sunblock.:look:

Illyria... I think maybe... you need one of these... ;)

Ela... Does it come in pastels? :P

And Dnae, you're a much braver soul than I am. I use sunscreen whenever I'm outside for more than 15 minutes. A little lotion-free sun time is good for your body. Vitamin D and all. But much longer than that, and I burn. :look:
