Mordeth, because of his name. But really, who is woolheaded enough to follow a strange guy to treasure in a haunted city, especially when his name is Mordeth (get it, More Death?!?)? C'mon, man!

In the first four books....hmmm. I think I'd have to say Be'lal. He certainly wasn't as prominent as some of the other villains, having only really appeared at the tail end of book 3, but I really liked his back story, his relationship with Lewis Therin and the exchange between Rand and Be'lal. How he deliberately spared Rand partly because of their supposed friendship at one point and partly because he just wanted Callandor. I thought that was pretty cool.

Lanfear, by far one of the greatest villians close second is Mordeth

From the first four books I would say the best (worst?) villain was Liandrin. Those Taraboner honey colored braids and stupid rosebud mouth...

Liandrin is spiteful and wicked. What she did to Egwene
turning her over to the Seanchan, which is especially terrible coming from another woman who can channel
was unforgivable. She is darkly cunning and clever, managing to always stay a step ahead of her pursuers. Breaking oaths, breaking women - it is hard to find anyone more villainous.

Plus, she isn't even funny like Fain or Lanfear. She is just scary and bad!!!

From the first four books, I'd say Lanfear cuz she plays both Rand and the other Forsaken so well.

I think Isam / Luc is the most interesting villain. You really don't learn his back-story until AMoL, but the fact that he hunts the hunters (wolves) both in TAR and in waking world with his ability to shift between them at will makes him so formidable.

Thanks... can you not post that in the Book 1 - 4 discussion?
Or hide it in spoiler tags..

I agree with that! Poor Egwene..

I don't really have a "favorite" villain, but I absolutely cannot stand the Children of the Light.

When I read chapters with them in, I cringe the whole way through, loathing every moment that they exist.
In real life, one thing that gets me going is someone having painfully obvious facts wrong, and holding stubbornly to them. But the Whitecloaks' perspective of the world is so twisted, immoral, and wrong that I cannot stand reading about it. At the same time, I am forced to appreciate Robert Jordan more, for creating a culture which elicits such a strong emotional reaction from me.

I also feel similarly about the Seanchan, but I think I can tolerate them a little more than whitecloaks. Don't ask me to break down why that is so, though.
I just hate Whitecloaks.

Almost all the villains have a motive to do one thing or another. Machin Shin just wants to simply bath in your blood while tearing you to pieces. He may not be considered a villain but I still think Machin Shin would tear any forsaken apart.

"Flesh so fine, so fine to tear, to gnash the skin; skin to strip, to plait, so nice to plait the strips, so nice, so red the drops that fall; blood so red, so red, so sweet; sweet screams, pretty screams, singing screams, scream your song, sing your screams..."

That's a tricky one... And yes, I am SO annoyed by the Children of the Light...:tug
From Books 1-4? I'd have to say Lanfear or Ishamael, because Lanfear was always such an interesting character, and you never know her motives or what she is up to, but she is a lot more clever than some of the other Forsaken and definitely more manipulative.
And of course her end at AMOL... wow, just SO greedy. She didn't even care about the Dark One, just tried to save him for power. And her compulsion on Perrin was... unexpected.
And Ishamael... well he was so powerful, he survived being stabbed twice and gave Rand an unhealable wound. I think the story involved with him is very amazing, how he was never properly bound into the Bore, and manipulated even Artur Hawkwing himself. And of course, he is much less petty than the other forsaken  .
I also liked his character development in the Sanderson books, where we learned why he turned to the Shadow, and how he lets sunlight into his dreamshard, and I felt sorry for him when he revealed that getting a second chance at life was his punishment.
As for villains after 1-4, definitely
Demandred, M'Hael, and Daved Hanlon. Demandred was formidable, and it was very fun to read how four characters tried to fight him and each failed except for Lan. M'Hael was awesome because I felt the bad guys were just too easy and then Taim came in and was more successful than any other Forsaken by half! And Daved Hanlon was so ruthless and competent, he has no pity and is just so cruel!
It's really hard to choose though!

^ Padan Fain is so creepy and he may be the ultimate villain but...:look: I'm only on book four...

I was wondering if I were a villian what kind of characteristics I would have. I tend to lack patience and don't think I could handle the screaming of tortured victims so for the most part, I guess I wouldn't be a very good villain at all. :p

Definitely Ishamael. I don't know why, but I think he's the best/least worst. (Is least worst even a thing?)

I like Lanfear, she is more complex than alot of the other villians as we learn some of her history.
