Looking around online, I've found tentative release dates anywhere from October 2013 to January 2014. Brandon Sanderson's website says the first draft was 40% complete as of the end of January. I'm guessing the book will probably done around Christmas?

So for those who are interested in to doing a group re-read, when do you suggest we do the re-read? Sooner will make sure we have it done on time. Later would keep everything fresh in mind, but then we risk not finishing in time. Any suggestions?

As a side point I found this quote from Sanderson: "'In honor of Asmodean, I’ll say that there is a mysterious death in The Way of Kings that could use some resources devoted to it. I did not put it in there simply because of Asmodean, but as I thought about it after writing it, I said, “Oh wow, I wonder if people will pick up on that." So there you go.'"

I wonder which mysterious death is in honor of Asmodean? I have to re-read to find out

Oh....that alone would make me pull out my book for a reread. Though if we all missed it on the first time around, not sure it is up there with Asmo's death. But we will see after I find my book and reread it.

Dependent upon what else I'm reading and when it is, I might be interested in a group reread :)

I'd love to do a reread with everyone! When would we do it? Need plenty of time to finish after all.

Seriously loved this book! I was pretty skeptical the first few chapters because it was my first brandon sanderson book and I had no idea just how freaking crazy/awesome his imagination is, but once I got into the book, I was in love!!! I'm totally onboard for a reread!!!

I have the same problem with this book that I had with most Wheel of Time books...I got too interested in one character (Shallan in this case) and started skimming over all the sections with other characters!

I will definitely be re-reading before the next book comes out and would love to join you all. :)

My copy is the hardback one, so if the re-read occurs on our summer holidays (when we're in Finland visiting relatives) then I'll need to just read faster to catch up with y'all! :D I'm trying to avoid carrying heavy books with me. (And won't buy the Kindle copy of books I already own as physical ones :p)

I'm done moving, but not unpacking, however I did find my copy of The Way of Kings, and the book almost took up a whole box by itself! I forgot how long it is, hard cover is 1001 pages.

I'm hoping we can stick pretty close together on this re-read, so that as we go along we can discuss what moves us, things we missed the first time, favorite quotes, speculation on the future, and of course who died that made Sanderson think of Asmodean. And I think it will help us to get to know each other a little better!

With that said, I agree with Ty that we should start sooner, it will be easier for us to keep pace with each other. Let's shoot for 250 pages a month(too much or little?), starting this month. This will have us done by June, way before the earliest speculated date for book 2. We can adjust that later if we need too. Does that sound good to everyone?

Toral Gaidin, do you think I should change the name of the thread for spoiler reasons, and is it ok to keep the thread in this forum? Thanks

I'm kind of in the middle of my WoT reread, but I think a break will be nice. Know what I mean? I've been submerged in Randland for a couple of years now, with breaks here and there, so it'll be nice to dive back into the Stormlight Archives. I'm looking forward to discussing it with everyone.

Haha that's me too...I would read the 250 pages in a day, and then wait 30 days and have forgotten what I'd read before. :embarassed:

But I'll still jump in and enjoy discussing it with everyone as you go!

I know what you mean, I threw a number out there to get a feel for a pace that work for most. How many pages would you say is good to where we can have most keep pace, or catch up when they finish what they're reading now?
