Seems to me the way AMOL ended lends itself to a great new series. Travels with the Dragon. Maybe then we can see what the future brought for Mat, Perrin, Talamanes, Elayne, etal.

I was thinking about the same.
It could be nice if a book called something like: "The Travels of a Dragon in retirement" would come out.

Great idea!! Sadly, both Harriet and Brandon have stated that there won't be WOT spin-offs. Actual quote can be found from Brandons blog.

It would be really nice to see what happened to the Seanchan and how long they keep their damane system, and if war with the Aiel is inevitable. I'd like to see Rand meeting with the rest of the crew again and explaining to them what happened and such. There's really just so much potential for a spin-off.... at least some sort of prolonged epilogue where these sort of things are covered would be nice.

Absolutely! I wish this would happen. I have so many unanswered questions. It would be awesome.

It would be pretty cool to know what happends next. It always annoys me that most fantasy series stop after they've defeated the "bad one". I always wonder what happends next

No. This series ended just as it was supposed to. No spin-offs for me please.

I doubt Rand would visit his family. Tam said his goodbyes, and it would be very cruel to let him believe his son is dead just to come back later.
I think Rand would just... Walk around, and eventually just settle down in a farm somewhere.

Well we know RJ had planned at least 3 spin offs, but I do not believe any would have focused on Rand.

He has doen his part and is reaping its reward of freedom now. He can't really visit any of the people that knew him as they would figure it out. Remember the Dragon's Peace hinges on him being dead. He could probably still find time to see the women of his and possibly his children. He does mention maybe buying a boat (reference to the prophecy), so it is possible they can use thier link to gateway to him to see him (Min would have to get one of the other two to do so for her).

Rand will probably be a traveler thats wanders from town to town. He will drift into town, right wrongs and, bring good fortune, then ride off into the sunset. I do have an issue with a very family oriented character pretty much cutting ties, specially to raising his kids, but it is partially necessary.

Surely he needs to see Aviendha at least? She still has those children to have, according to Min's viewing and her own experience at Rhuidean. Unless I missed something and she is actually pregnant all of book 14 and I never noticed :look:

There is a Viewing of Min in ToM:

"I see the Two Rivers, Rand. I see an inn there with the mark of the Dragon´s Fang inlaid on its door. No longer be a symbol of darkness of hate. A sign of victory and hope."

When I renember the saa formed like a Dragon´s Fang in the eye of Rand´s new body, this could very well mean him returning to the Two Rivers after some free time and opening that inn there. I think Min is the most likely to live there with him, she fits into that environment. Elayne and Aviendha could come visiting from time to time (or he goes to visit them). Perhaps his new abilities allow some kind of relocation/gateways/shifting/whatever for him to make that possible.

I simply took Min's viewing to mean that the world's perception of the Dragon had changed to a hero instead of a madman. The Dragon's Fang was scratched onto the Inn's door in TEotW, so maybe they're just keeping it as a tribute to Rand in his hometown.

Yes, that could be the meaning. But usually Min´s viewings have a more direct meaning in relation to the person her viewing is connected to. I see Rand at least settling down there, perhaps even visiting that old inn in Emonds Field. But that would also mean he tells a few people more about his miraculous body swap. At least Tam.

Right now there are very few people who know about that. Cadsuane, Alivia, Elayne, Aviendha and Min. Nynaeve suspects something and probably will bully it out of one of them. Alivia is the weak link in the chain, I don´t think she can lie convincingly...

I think Avi got pregnant when they spent the night together before the war started... It wasn't mentioned, but I thought that was what that scene was all about.

I disagree, Aulrick. I thought it was more about them consummating their relationship as equals. Aviendha considers their first night together as a loss of honour and refused to go to him as merely an apprentice - I saw their night before the war as sort of a wedding night.
I also think if he was intending to not have contact with the women, the bond/s would have been severed. He clearly wants them to follow him. At least, that's what I tell myself :)

Caendha, I agree with you. He definitely would have done something with the bonds if he meant to disappear completely to everyone. He no doubt intends to live out his life as a normal guy, while enjoying occasional visits from Min, Elayne and Aviendha.

I think Rand will tell someone about how he sealed the bore, because he would not want to chance saidin being tainted in the future. He will have contact with Min, Elayne and Aviendha, he was excited about which one would find him first, or if all three would together. It seems practical that he would tell them about sealing the bore.

I agree with Caendha and Baph that Rand would have severed or at least mask the bonds if he didn't want them to find him.I also agree when Aviendha stay their night together as consumating their relationship as equals.

However I also agree with Aulrick that Aviendha is now pregnant. Not only did she see it in Rhuidien, but so did Sorelia (I think it was Sorelia), and in the vision the children knew the Dragon was their father, it would have been a secret if she got pregnant with those children after everyone thought Rand was dead. Also the Wise Ones took it as fact that Avi would have Rand's children.

Yeah, pretty sure Avi is pregnant now. Since it's only been about a week or two for her though, neither she nor anyone else would necessarily know.

Yes, they consummated their relationship as equals. But they also made their babies as equals. :P

As for spin offs, anything at this point would just be fan fiction. I think we're going to get a lot of answers in the upcoming encyclopedia, but any story anyone writes after that is just speculation. As much as I like to draw things out, I think this is, sadly, the end (or rather, AN end ;)).

This whole series is just one I want to continue on and on! I've grown to love all these characters and I want to see how they all continue their lives. I'd LOVE it if Aviendha were indeed pregnant. I'd like to know how the White Tower fares after the loss of so many Aes Sedai and the internal drama. I'd love to see Mat and Tuon's baby be born and how Mat adapts to life in Seanchan.

I'm just going to miss them all.
