So Dashiva is Osan'gar, right? I can't decide if it's him or Taim in charge or the attack on Rand. Could it be that even Taim is not aware of his true identity?

Also I was wondering about Aran'gar and her use of saidin. Is this supposed to indicate male/female are distinguished by the quality of a person's soul as opposed to their flesh? It seems like in the case of Mat, Rand, and Birgitte they're reborn over and over in the same gender, so that must be true for everyone I suppose. The thought is rather off putting, but if souls are in some way tied to saidar/saidin it does make sense...

Correct souls are "male" or "female".

...so the soul of the Dragon Reborn is always going to be male, just as Birgitte's soul is always born as a woman, just as Ameresu's soul is always born as a woman. There are divisions here, and they are not interchangeable.

Make of that what you will I guess.

I'm not gonna lie, I have always been a little confused on who Osan'gar and Aran'gar WERE before they become who they ARE?

I am so glad I'm not the only one who was confused! Whew. That whole thing was hard for me to wrap my mind around. I'm going to have to pay special attention on my re-read.

I have re-read the series a handful of times and I am still lost! Let me know if you find anything!

Well, I think Osangar is Aginor since he said just before his death something about him being a scientist and we know that Aginor was the scientist who created the darkspawn.
I never figured out who Arangar is.:look:

Okay got a few more minutes this time

here's the way to work it out

At the time we meet them, the forsaken dead are:

Aginor and Balthamel, Ishamael, Asmodean, Rahvin and Be'lal, and possibly Lanfear

Rahvin and Be'lal died by balefire so they are out, Asmodean is on the traitor list, so he's out.

Both the Gars were originally male (When Osan'gar tries to channel, he reaches for saidin, not saidar. As for Aran'gar, she is extremely upset at being put into a woman's body, and Osan'gar thinks it is a "fine joke.")

So the remaining possibilities are Aginor, Balthamel, and Ishamael.

Now from information in ACOS, TPOD, and WH we can rule out Ishamael (won't spoil anymore about that here)

So we are left with the toxic twins Aginor and Balthamel

As for who is who Osan'gar thinks to himself about having helped make the Trollocs and not liking the Halfmen who were an unexpected result of that experiment. so we know he's Aginor which makes Aran'gar is Balthamel.

Ohhhhh got it. Thanks for the explanation. I resolve to pay closer attention to that part when I reach it. I've got to stop reading so quickly that I don't actually SEE what I'm reading. :look:

Well, Aran'gar is obviously Balthamel and Osan'gar Aginor. They were brought back to life at the same time, they died at the same time. Aran'gar was expressing her feelings for Graendal whom she liked in the Age of Legends. Balthamel was fascinated by women. The Dark One only used Baltahmel's soul and put it in the body of a Borderlander woman.

Thanks! Re reading LoC and I forgot about the toxic twins. So the Boderland woman captured by the Trollocs when Demandred visits Shayol Ghul is Osan'gar's and Aran'gar's host body?
