Hi everyone! Just made an account and excited about joining this community! A little about me:
  • With my username, you'd think my favorite character is Mat, but I'm on my first re-read and I really am enjoying Moiraine this go around.
  • I found TarValon.net because I am doing audibooks for the re-read and the chapter summaries help me if I miss something (I listen while working)
  • I am an IT Auditor and spend most of my time on a computer, so I get to do a lot of audiobook reading at work!
  • From Louisiana!
  • Favorite author outside of Robert Jordan is Shakespeare! I love love love all of his plays.
Question for the community: What is the most under-rated book in the WoT Series?

Welcome to TarValon.Net! :D And I don’t have an answer for your question. Well, maybe New Spring if you save it and read it around book 9 or 10. It can be a refreshing, faster-paced read in the middle of what many people consider a slog.

The slog is real! That was the main reason I got the audio books was to force myself to listen to the slog and get through it! But of those, I actually liked winters heart a lot more the second time (currently on Knife of Dreams)

Welcome!

I don't really have an answer to your question because I think of them as one big story and tend not to separate them out by book.

this :look: But I also think some people add Crown of Swords to the very tenuious boring part of the story, and I believe Crown of Swords is still very strong as a book.

Also Welcome :joy happy to have you here with us :pleased-1:

Welcome! :welcome

The books are one long story to me as well. Certain events I clearly remember happen in s certain book, most I don't. I'm on Crossroads of Twilight in my reread now. Taking a small break for he second time :look:

Welcome! I prefer the physical books, mostly b/c of the glossary in the back and the maps and shuch.

Hey there! I was going to nominate Winter's Heart as the most underrated. I really liked it. I loved all the parts with
Elayne and Aviendha are excellent in that one, the Seanchan invasion ramps up, and I love the cleansing of Saidin.

I do prefer the physical books as well! But the narrators for the audio books are great, but I have a special row on my bookshelf for my physical copies!

I really didn't like Winters Heart on my first read through, but having just finished it in my re-read, I loved it a lot more. I had forgotten some of the non-major events!

I am with you as well. It all blends into one long story for me. My re-read is helping me remember what happens in specific books better, but it all flows as one story so perfectly

Thanks! And yea it does get lumped in as one of the boring books, but I really enjoyed it. But then again, I really enjoy all the books lol

Welcome, fellow Shakespeare person! What's your favourite play?

I agree with Ilverin about A Crown of Swords. I love that book.

Between Nynaeve and Lan meeting again, Elayne finally standing up to the other Aes Sedai, Mat and Birgitte spending time together, the developing relationship between Elayne and Aviendha, Egwene continuing to put plans in motion--it's a solid book, in my opinion.
