I just saw this series had no thread here under Brandon Sanderson forums... really shocked me. This is a great series imo. Did anyone else read it? I really loved the "what a hero would really be like" theme.

Do you think that theme is accurate? I don't know really, but this is some fan fiction I intend to right myself someday based on this trilogy. Create my own hero with specific powers, and see where I can take it. Really could act as a great writing point for any amateur interested in exploring their own imagination. There is a good variety in the books themselves, but I think there were a few missed opportunities for character development.

I love this series. Especially the first book :) So many twists, and yet so straight forward. It is a refreshing change from his other, more complex books :)

This is a great observation and I agree. I remember when I first read it I felt the same way, it's so easy to just relax to and read before sleep. Lot of books make me think quite a bit, or get so convoluted I really need to be alert to know what is going on. For some reason these three books just flowed very smoothly.

I think when people have to explain complex magic systems, it can slow things down. I loved Mistborn, but I do remember having to go back a few times and being like wait... what metal burns what... causes what... and then I would be like well I will finish this tomorrow I just want to hug my pillows lol

I've read the first book, and I have the other two. Even got them all signed by Sanderson at a book event he did for the last book.

I really enjoyed the concept for the book. I should read the other two, but I literally just packed them up in a box last night.

Also read Mitosis which is a short story that's inbetween the first and second book. Gives some better exposition for the 2nd book, I hear.

Why are you boxing up your stuff???

I haven't heard of them! I will check them out from the library. :pleased-1:

If this is the only thing this thread accomplished, you have made me immensely happy! Yehu! Enjoy!

I'm not moving or anything. I just box up stuff and put it in my closet or attic if it sits out long enough, which a lot of books did. I also don't really have a lot of shelf space in my place so stuff rotates like this.

Now I am imagining Thad's house like a library where they do curated book displays. "Editor's Picks of November..."

I didn't like them very much, it's not like his other stuff. The suspence was mostly nice though, I give him that :D But the ending was meh for me :look:
Didn't the first one seem to you like an exact version of The Final Empire though? :look:

Yeah, I had to read the last book at least two times to even understand what on earth happened at the end there...

Keep in mind a lot of series struggle to end... never forget -fren's-... it's about the journey first and foremost, did you like the journey? For me that answer is yes. It's one of the few series where I want to write fan-fiction just for my own enjoyment.

David is seriously giving me Izuku Midoriya vibes from My Hero Academia. Well not all of the character obviously - Midoriya is younger and different personality. But the whole powerless but obsessed with Epics with extensive research thing. :p

I'm looking forward to your thoughts when you finish. :pleased-1:

I only recently got into anime, so I have not seen that one yet. I am currently watching Code Geass. I have only completed two series in full, Death Note and ReZero, I loved both.
