Which characters make you squint your eyes and make you say, "That's so me..."?

Not necessarily your favorites, but ones that make it easy for you to relate to their experience.

In the Wheel of Time, I related a lot to Aviendha. Not necessarily because she was athletic and a warrior. She was most scared of social interactions and afraid of confronting her true feelings a lot while still being viewed as prudent and driven.

Nynaeve. Her "Oh my god you guys are idiots why are you doing it this way let me just do it" is very much me. :cheeseeni: :blue

Nynaeve. :tug And she's my favorite as well :look:
Me and Nyn are both very stubborn, hard to budge on our initial impressions and opinions, although it's not impossible. I love few people, but those that I do love, I love fiercely! I want to heal all their hurts and make everything okay for them :hug It tears me up inside when someone I care about is in pain and I can't do anything to fix it. I also share other minor character qualities with her, but in the interest of not creating a wall of text, I'll leave it at that.
I'm not quite as...abrasive...as she is, nor as amazing, but I can hope to be. Amazing that is, not abrasive ;)
Ha! Jeffan Sedai beat me to it.

Heehee. I like that part of Nynaeve too. I definitely relate to her "You're going to shut up and let me take care of you whether you like it or not!" take on things.

(*gasp!* I spotted Queen Beryl in your sig!)

That being said, I like Nynaeve too. :pleased-1: She's not my absolute favorite, but she's quite high on the list.

I've always seen myself as a mix between Siuan and Verin. Siuan, my Blue spirit sister, always kept that tight Aes Sedai mask on in public, but get her behind closed doors and it's all foul language and vulnerability. Verin and her reasons for doing things also sounds a lot like me. Seemingly flighty and lost in her own world but always, always observing and taking mental notes. And her version of breaking bad...yeah, I get it.

I'm curious...how do you relate to Lanfear?

(I don' think it's weird, by the way, she's just a really interesting character. )

just a little bit of Lanfear... She's tall and dark hair, strong with the One Power (which I have always felt if we had such a thing I would too... so wishful thinking) and she can be anyone she needs to be.... In social situations in my teens and twentys (not as much now in my older age) I could be who I needed to be to match the crowd I was with... don't know if that makes any sense... I'm an odd one :)

I feel that a lot of us can identify with Nynaeve :look: I sometimes feel like bashing someones head in when they are being stubborn too :look:

I also relate to Perrin actually. Or at least middle-books Perrin, before the stupid Shaido side-plot. I identify with the fear of suddenly being elevated above others, but at the same time just naturally taking the lead :look:

Can't believe I forgot about Perrin. *silently apologizes to her wolf sig*

I relate to Perrin in a lot of ways as well. The way he's quiet and tries not to get in the way, but the right person, and the right situation makes him rise to the challenge. But, most importantly, it's that you have to motivate yourself to make it count for something.

Sometimes I wish I had wolf buddies in my head to snide comments about what's going on around me. :barbershop

Nynaeve for me. She tough and practical but at the same time caring and enjoys quality things. She can be stubborn and doesn't let anyone push her around (still working on this, personally). We also both share similar experiences and can tell when it's going to rain. Fortunately, she has the One Power for the latter; I just have a head sensitive to changes in barometric pressure.

This. But also Rand; the way he describes Saidin as "frozen fire and molten ice" is exactly the way I described the pain of my RSD: before I began to read the books in 2000, and that was not long after my diagnosis. Also, he has a whole hell of a lot on his plate and had to sacrifice much of his life because of his circumstances.

As weird as it sounds, a mixture of Mat and Nynaeve.

That would be interesting. :D :tug

Jarl, I'm sorry you had to go through that! :hug Now that I'm going through my second re-read, I relate to Rand in similar ways. He's got a lot on his plate and he does the best he can. He's also got a serious thing for guilt without it being a conscious thing. Which is another thing I relate to, unfortunately. :look:

Also, I didn't realize the forum software had changed RSD to RS "O noes!" D: Either that, or I mistyped.

As of book 4 I think I'm the closest to the mix of Moiraine and ... Perrin. She's always fighting for the cause and he is doing what's right.

That's what I like most about Perrin, that he always does everything he can to do the right thing, and he does it thoughtfully. He thinks of himself as slow of thought, but that is a strength in my opinion. Quick thinking can be a good thing, but diving in without any thought at all is dangerous on many levels. But doing the right thing, however long it takes to figure out what that is, is always to be admired and commended.

Egewene… I didn't really notice her much my first reading until the end when she becomes amazing... but this time through I notice her and the similarities a lot more.
