How do you expect seasons will go?

Season per book or not?

For some books, especially earlier ones season per book would be fine. But later like 9th book two episodes would do if they want to keep people watching. xD

What would be best in my opinion is for them to cut out all descriptions and then divide that plot into what would make sense for seasons and ignoring book way completely at least later.

I really wonder how will they film this without it going on for 10 years. I mean I won't mind if it's good, but it may be a bit too long.

The good news here is that Sony is involved and they are doing a fabulous job with Outlander.

There is hope they will treat WoT similarly.

I agree Ivien. I think some books could be a full season but otherwise would have to be mushed together. I hope they don't try to make 10 seasons, it's just too much and shows tend to get tired after too many.

I agree that the books can easily be a season each. The first three at least, have a very clear beginning, middle and climatic end part. After that, it is more continous. And book 8-9-10 can probably easily be shortened.

Later you also get a multitude of perspectives which I feel would be interesting, but hard to handle in a show. Maybe limiting focus characters to the main cast would be a way to trim.

Yes, I suspect minor plots, like Morgase arc will most likely be dropped. And Perrin vs Shaido would not be harmed by being shortened.

If they didn't make the Faile being held by the Aiel thing last forever it would cut out at least a season

They could actually drop that altogether and it wouldn't derail the story too much :look:

I think they could deal with the Faile-Aiel storyline in one episode. Captured>Perrin is pissed>Rescued. Doesn't need the endless soul-searching and the whole stupid Berelain storyline. Nor the multiple escape attempts by Faile and her little mini-Resistance. Maybe 2 episodes - depends how much they want to make of the Axe vs Hammer thing. It could be 2 episodes with other stuff happening with the other characters in between agonising :p

Yeah, that could work. Berelain really don't need to go on that journey at all :look:

I agree that it would be ideal to do a season per book, but by the same token, some of the books are mostly filler, and there is a lot of description and internal monologue. It would make more sense to play it by ear, so to speak.

I'm curious about changes the show will make. For example, there are some changes I like, and some I don't on the Game of Thrones series.

I think Elayne gaining the throne of Andor can be cut down quite a bit too. It stretches across four books as far as I can remember and although some interesting bits it could be made leaner.

Oh yes, that too. I think that the Sea Folk can be trimmed a lot too, if not dropped in its entirety...

An arc I really hope they keep is the Black Ajah Hunters.

I know nothing really came of the hunt, there was the whole thing with the Hunters gatecrashing a Supreme Council meeting that never happened for some reason. It just kind of petered out but I really like the characters and the arc in general.

I think the Sea Folk will be a good way to keep some of the diversity already in place in the books.

While their interaction with Rand might be limited, the Sea Folk do have an impact on the Bowl of Winds plot line too.

The books were so colorful in my mind, too. I hope the trend of desaturation to make things look edgy isn't used.

That said, I think the Tinkers will be dazzling. :)
