Maybe I'm just an impressionable reader, but I'm curious if anyone else does this. What mannerisms have you picked up after reading the books? I noticed myself trying to ignore the cold (to no avail), and straightening my posture much more often. I also catch myself fingering necklace charms, as if I had a foxhead medallion. I suspect there are at least a few braid tug-ers here. After spending so much time with the series, one's bound to pick up a few odd habits ;)

Yes, I am often swearing with WoT words when I am speaking English. "light" especially seems to come quite naturally. Luckily for me, "Light" is not as strange a word. "Bloody ashes" have gotten a few looks...

I do find myself saying 'blood and bloody ashes' or 'thank the light' and I have a tendency to put on an Aes Sedai mask more often when I'm reading the books. But one thing I always do with any series I'm reading, is adopt the style of language. Whether I'm writing or speaking to someone, my choice of words and sentence structure mimic the authors

I've picked up a few mannerisms, namely using "blasted" regarding my work, the Aes Sedai mask (especially around certain family members), and ignoring the cold or heat (when working in my unfinished basement or garage).

The flame and void and the rose exercise are good meditations, I love the ignore the temp trick, it is just a matter of convincing your mind that you are comfortable. I tug my hair a lot, especially if it is braided, but not because I am angry, and I say Light sometimes. I have been tempted to use some of Uno's more colorful language too, but so far haven't. My face is also usually blank, especially if I am around people I don't know or if I am uncomfortable, but it can also be that way if I am just thinking.

I've been looking for an opportunity to use Elayne's "mothers milk in a cup!" But haven't found one yet...

I'm pretty sure my mother stole a few pages out of the books as well. Her Aes Sedai glare can make you stop dead in your tracks...she aught to give lessons! (She's a big Wot fan herself)

I have a fox pendant and I often find myself fiddling with it  I also started using 'bloody' as a prefix for everything

Makes me wonder what other WoT style influences people have taken on. For instance, the first thing I look for in a coat are Loial sized pockets for keeping books and sketchbooks in.

Whether or not I have mannerisms depends on if I'm reading the book and it is usually related to curse words and stuff like that for me.

I tried using the Flame and the Void while I am trying to fall asleep and relax my muscles. Some times it works :look:

I write "Light" almost every time, except when I write OMG :look: I usually fidget with my Aes Sedai ring and caress the snake's head, even though that's not something from the books, it makes me more connected to the world

I think the books had me practicing mindful meditation before I even knew what it was!

I also think a lot about Rand's experiences living with chronic pain, the way you're always aware, but have to learn to distance yourself from those feelings.

As a White Sister, I often use phrases like "It is not logical". It is not a thing I have started to do BECAUSE I am White, but it is more that I NOTICE it more now...

Someone was discussing some things they were working through with me, and I responded with something along the lines of "well, the wheel turns." They looked at me oddly...

Oh, have I sworn like a Shienaran soldier when I was frustrated at my video game. There was a moment of stunned silence from my squadmates, and then our tank main was like "Y'all right?"
