Greetings and an Introduction

Hello everyone, I'm Cynayne. I found my way here via snooping the forums on Ravelry, where I've been active for about 7 years in the Harry Potter Knit and Crochet House Cup. I was just looking at a friends' profile and I saw a group for WoT fans, where someone asked for TV.net names and boom! I discovered this and thought I should check it out.

So, I'm a knitter, I'm in the SCA (hence my avatar picture, me in the good old days), I love to cook, especially baking, make stained glass windows, glass beads, embroider, make pysanky (Ukrainian Easter Eggs), read like a fiend, learn all I can, and teach what I know. I've read all of the Wheel of Time and loved it; I only wish there was more. There are so many interesting cultures, so much history lost in the mists of time, not enough written to fill all the gaps for me! I think my favorite character is Egwene al'Vere.


But it is unfair to pick just one favorite - there are so many characters who I found fascinating.

IRL I am a Pharmacist for a grocery chain in Atlanta, GA. I'm married, no kids, 4 cats and 3 hens. Next year we will have bees again. I'm originally from New Orleans, so I still cook my red beans and I like my cornbread sweet. Behind the TarValon names here I suspect I will find an old friend or two that I know from one of my other interests.

Aside from Robert Jordan, I enjoy reading C J Cherryh, Sherri Tepper, Terry Pratchett, and of course, JKR, to name a few. I've been reading science fiction and fantasy most of my life, the rest is (literally) history.

It's lovely to be here and meet you all, and I look forward to making my way around the forums.

For Senior Members (like myself), one would stick either "Sedai" or "Gaidin" on the end of their name, like they do in the books. You're welcome to the shortening of my name, so it's just Sea instead of Chalisea.

Titles and such tend to go above avatars. Staff positions will take the place of Aes Sedai or Gaidin if they are on staff. It can be a bit strange.

Welcome to Tar Valon, Cynayne! You sound like a very interesting, creatively productive person. I like it. You should feel right at home here, and we're glad to have you.

The only thing I'd request is if you could put the fact about Egwene in spoilers, like [spoilers]textaboutegwene[ /spoilers] (while removing the space before the slash), simply because I am sure there are still people, especially the new ones who can see these forums, who may not have reached that stage of the books yet.

You didn't have to delete it altogether. Were my instructions unclear? I'm happy to elaborate more. Also, there is a handy stickied thread in the Introductions forum that explains (screenshots included!) how to multiquote so you can reply to everyone's posts in one of yours.

Thank you, Satrim! I am all too happy to share my glass knowledge with anyone who wishes it. It was something I sought to do for a living way back when, but the jobs weren't there when I'd finished my apprenticeship, so I went to University instead. I mostly teach now, and do the occasional panel to raise funds for various organizations. Ask away!
