If there are no objections, I'd like to push the start of this book back till April 30. I may or may not be a couple books behind, and I expect to have a lot of reading time in April thanks to travel, so I'll be able to catch up.

May 14: Chapters 3-8

May 21: Chapters 9-15

May 28: Chapters 16-22

June 4: Chapters 23-29

Re: Memory of Light Re-Readalong **not started yet**

Chapter 37 gets it's own week :p You sure that that will be enough time to complete that chapter Mother :look: :p
After all, it is not only a very LONG chapter, but a LOT of stuff happens in it :look:

I guess I can look and see if there's a breaking point halfway through. It's just hard to pick a page number, since editions vary.

The advantage here is that I have read the books straight through to Gathering Storm on my first read... No need for a re-read yet. 9.5 books is a lot of time...

I Read roughly 300-350 wpm. and as of today, I am about to check out book 5 from the library. so we will see where we are later. :D

I have finished the Prologue. I actually really like it. The intervals makes the storyline of Talmanes in Caemlyn that much better, it doesn't feel too long at all, because we get all those other parts in between. And I like that Talmanes gets to be a little badass :pleased-1:

Prologue:
-Talmanes is understandably worried about losing the dragons to the Shadow. :brown-blink: Yes, that would be bad.
-People in the Town drink ‘fire’, supposedly a corruption of some drink from the Waste. Is it a corrupted version of kaf?
-Nynaeve is understandably pissed at Egeanin for letting the Forsaken have the male a’dam… yeeahh, that’s kinda the expected reaction, Egeanin.
-As punishment, Egeanin submits herself to the White Tower, even though Egwene doesn’t want her.
-Bair is awesome and decides to go to Rhuiean to confirm the new purpose of the ter’angreal and what Aviendha saw. I love this. :D
-Bair is also wise to suggest to Aviendha to change one of her children’s names, keeping their original name a secret, to prove that the future can be changed.
-Androl and Pevara! :joy :joy
-I really just want a book of all of Androl’s past exploits.
-Aelfinn/Eelfinn land is called Sindhol by the Forsaken.
-Graendal’s been punished by being made hideous and named ‘without forgiveness’. Yeah… the Forsaken are having problems.
-Taim is named one of the Chosen. Even though the Forsaken scheming isn’t usually exciting to me and it doesn’t always amount to much, I like this part. :) Shows how the power of the ‘normal’ Forsaken is dwindling and Moridin and the Dark One are having to look for new people to help them out. (and, you know, an army of Dreadlords)
-Moridin questions what Demandred’s been doing lately, so even Moridin doesn’t know he’s been hanging out in Shara.

Chapter 1:
-Wolves have gone silent in most places, because they’re all heading north for the Last Battle.
-Rand still smells the same as always apparently.
-Rand making himself hard to find means he didn’t find out until super recently that Elayne’s pregnant! See, Rand, this is why people need to find you sometimes. :p
-Rand’s obviously right about needing to break the Seals, but Egwene is right to think that, if they need to be broken, they need to wait ‘til the right time to do it. In the end, that’s exactly what they decide on.
-Rand still regrets Demandred turning to the Shadow.
-Love Perrin and Rand together again. :)

Chapter 2:
-Pevara assumes that Androl has never tried jumping off a cliff… and she’s wrong. :rofl
-Pevara makes the assumption that, since there are men at the Black Tower who are still mad, saidin isn’t pure.
-Androl: “You’re different from the others, I’ll admit. Not like a Red at all.”
Pevara: “I think you’ll find we’re more varied than you suppose.”
Yes, especially after the start of the series. :look: The Ajahs were super caricatured at the beginning.
-Androl’s amazed at how it feels to hold so much power (even saidar) because he can usually only hold a tiny bit at once.
-Pevara bonds Androl by reflex. :facepalm :facepalm As much as I usually like Pevara, this pisses me off. :indifferent: Seriously, I realize you were freaked out, but that is not an appropriate reaction… especially with her immediately trying to justify it, rather than immediately apologizing and undoing it.
-Though I do like the “You bonded me?” “You did it to me first.” :rofl :rofl
-Rand sends a letter to Elayne telling her to return to Caemlyn, which she assumes to be a Daes Dae’mar ploy to make her stay. Whether it is or not, I suppose she did stay. (though I think she’d been planning to stay even before the letter)
-Aviendha is still grateful to Min for ‘helping’ her make the last step to becoming a Wise One… even though Min only did it accidentally. It worked out, though, since now Aviendha actually wants Min to like her.

I believe "Fire" is based on Oosquai ;) It sounds like an appropriate name :look:

Yeah, I don't really like the Androl and Pevara Bonding, but I do like the results :look: It is cool to see how the mutual Bond affects them. I suspect that is why it was put in.

Chapter 3:
-I really like seeing Androl and Pevara figure out how their new ‘Bond’ works.
-I want to see Rand inviting Tam to ‘dine’ with him. :rofl
-Aviendha: “Enough talk. You will bed me now. :indifferent: “ :rofl
-Aviendha intends to not let Rand get any sleep. :brown-blink: Umm, I realize she’s going to be using up some of his time, but she does know the Last Battle starts tomorrow, right? You might want the Dragon Reborn to be awake for that…
(luckily Rand does get some sleep :p )
-Pevara is badass! :brown-blink: She brought down 2 Asha’man alone.
-Apparently the Red Ajah regularly practices fighting other Channelers. That’s cool! :D
-Androl uses the One Power to make an ice pack for Pevara. :pleased-1:

Chapter 4:
-Androl talks about his father going mad. :( It’s interesting how his Power manifested, though, with his father able to find valuable ore deposits really easily.
-Pevara learns how to send actual words through the Bond.

Chapter 5:
-Egwene and Gawyn question how Rand makes grass spring to life around him, assuming it must be some sort of weave.
-Rand and Cadsuane basically get along now and he lets her come in alone to the meeting, without having to join the White Tower group.
-Rand wonders whether Roedran is Moridin (?). (or someone else? Someone evil :p )
-Rand briefly gets super paranoid, thinking that Egwene just wants to taint saidin again because she doesn’t want men challenging the White Tower. :brown-blink: Wow, Rand. But you’ve been so reasonable lately. D: Luckily he abandons that idea quickly. :p
-The Borderlanders are happy to sign anything and are focused on the Last Battle, while the southerners (outside of Caemlyn) aren’t as focused on the Last Battle and are more concerned with securing their positions after the battle.
-Egwene has an uncanny ability to stand up to Rand even when his ta’verenness is pulling everyone else to do what he wants. It’s quite useful at times.
-Moiraine! :joy :joy I really wish we’d gotten to see more of her interacting with everyone.

Chapter 6:
-I definitely teared up when the Borderlander armies appear through gateways to save Lan’s forces! :joy :joy :joy :cry Such a fantastic scene! And then again when Lan starts laughing at the end for joy! :joy Definitely one of my favorite scenes in the whole series.

Chapter 7:
-After the meeting, Rand sends Borderlander armies to help Lan… and literally they arrive in the middle of Lan’s last charge. :brown-blink: I realize he’s ta’veren, so it’s not a coincidence, but wow, that timing is perfect. If he were a few seconds off, it could’ve been too late!
-Rand’s presence (?) made Great Trees appear on the Field of Merrilor.
-Elayne has heard nothing of what’s happening in the Black Tower and suggests sending for Asha’man to help.
-Knowing what’s going to happen with the great captains, I keep cringing whenever they talk about them in this chapter. When Elayne’s like “We have 4 battlefields and 4 captains. It’s perfect!”, I’m just sitting here like “Noooo! D: “
-Ogier arrive to fight in the Last Battle! So cool! :joy And we learn that Loial’s mother never really supported opening the Book of Translation and leaving. She was just playing devil’s advocate. :giggle
-All the Borderlander armies agree to fight under Lan. :D So many awesome things in these chapters. I love the camaraderie of the Borderlands and their dedication to fight for Malkier.
-I really like the idea of the poet who forbade anyone from speaking her poems out loud unless it was right to do so. Such a cool idea.
-Lan: “What am I? Some sheepherder from a forgotten village?”
-Lan realizes how useful the One Power can be for practical purposes-such as gathering firewood.
-I like that the Asha’man sent to Lan are all Borderlanders. :pleased-1: “We fight together.”

Chapter 8:
-Elayne is weirdly attached to the idea of one of her children as the ruler of Saldaea. :scratch Why Saldaea? :scratch Just ‘cause of the connection with Faile?
-Bashere advises that Elayne make it known that her children’s father is the Dragon Reborn. Makes sense. There’s hardly any reason to hide it anymore now that the Last Battle’s here!
-Poor Evin. :(

-Moridin questions what Demandred’s been doing lately, so even Moridin doesn’t know he’s been hanging out in Shara.

I kind of want a full book about Demandred in Shara, he seems to have gone through some character growth during his time as Bao

A Memory of Light – Prolouge

Baryd – I dunno why we got this POV, the war in Andor has been done for an entire book now and going to this POV is very strange.

Talmanes – Dreadbane is an awesome bloody title, and the poor guy goes through so much, also everyone make note of how Jordan builds up Fades as really dangerous again. Talmanes kills 2 in one night and almost dies because of it. Also...WHY DID YOU LEAVE THE WAYS ABLE TO OPEN. WHY?!

Slayer – Turned Aiel are creepy, like really creepy.

Leilwin – So Leilwin gets crap for Rand almost getting caught..but Cadsuane doesn't? Double Standard much?

Aviendha - “It doesn't matter if the future can be changed, we have to act as if It can be.” I love the Aiel.

Androl – It is fun to see how different the Black Tower rebellion goes from the White Tower One, The Ashaman follow one of them who doesn't have strength but is respected, The Aes Sedai put in a puppet who has to scheme to get respect and is strong in the power.

A memory of Light 1 -

Rand – I find it to be odd that Rand never really learned what Perrin's deal was. He asked about everything again and the trial is news enough to discuss as part of what happened to the people, I still don't buy Rand's Madness.

Egwene – Things come full circle, Nyneave heals the taint from the Thak'andar blade.

A Memory of Light 2 -

Pevara – Well I do gotta say Pevara has +5 Holy Cajoles, offering herself as Bait for Taim and the Blacks Ajah

Aviendha – Yes Aviendha make less of a scene by sneaking into a Queen's Tent. Totally sensible line of thought. Goofy Aiel.

A Memory of Light – 3

Androl – I can't imagine just how bad Androl feels, he has one of the most powerful talents one can have, and it gets negated by something he can't do anything about. I would loved to have seen him break through the dreamspike with his gateways.

A Memory of Light 4 -

Androl – Oh Emarin, you know proper interrogation tactics. Always make them think you want something other than you are asking them for, that way they give the thing you want by accident.

Rand – You know if Moridin wants to die so much..why not just Balefire himself?

A Memory of Light 5 – The Meeting Begins, and we see Rand's grand plan. I wonder how this went down in Aviendha's vision. In the very least we know the Aiel were not in the Dragon's Peace, but were the Seanchan?

A Memory of Light 6 – Moraiiineeeeeeee! I love her going through the Prophecies of the Dragon. He shall say his people with the sword of peace indeed. I love the solution for the Aiel, it is completely genius to have them enforce the peace, it gives them purpose after thousands of years of not having one.

And we see The Borderlanders all gather up under Lan.

A Memory of Light 7 – It begins, Elayne is in charge and she has numbers 2 through 5 of the greatest military minds at her commnad.

A Memory of Light 8 – Elayne drops that stupid plot to keep her children's father secret. Finally.

A Memory of Light 9 – Elyane has one major flaw in her logic with Nobody wanting to fight the dragons. These are just made weapons that nobody has experience going against. In a year the magic users will have figured a way to mitigate the weapons.

Chapter 9:
-Bulen. :cry Lan acknowledges that he’s thankful to Bulen for joining his ride and uses a gateway to preserve his body. :(
-Agelmar is great here. Calling Lan selfish for his death ride… which, yeah, he is. Glad someone finally said it that Lan will listen to. :p
-To Egwene, every Seanchan is close to being a Darkfriend… not that I can blame her.
-Elayne thinks it’s awesome that Rand has all of Lews Therin’s memories. “What an advantage!” :D She’s the first person Rand has met who’s responded so positively to his knowledge of Lews Therin.
-Rand can magically make tea better just by holding it. The Pattern creating balance through him.
-Rand gives Elayne an angreal-maker! :eek So cool!
-And Elayne gives Rand a ter’angreal to hide him from the Shadow. Quite useful gifts. I guess when you’re powerful enough, you have access to awesome items of the Power to use as gifts. :p

Chapter 10:
-Elayne’s frustrated with how much work it takes to relay information back and forth to her… she’s already spoiled by the use of gateways. Gateways are a much easier way to relay information to her than they would’ve had to use a year ago!
-Elayne is frustrated because Egalmar should be a good enough general to hold back the trollocs at the Gap and Bashere counsels her to just blindly trust Agelmar because he’s such a tactician. Graendal’s influence on Agelmar already.
-Taim was wanting to Turn Pevara, but his ‘minions’ gave her forkroot tea first. That’s lucky for us! We need Pevara not Turned.
-Elayne’s convinced that the Dragons will end war because they’re so strong that no one will want to face them… Birgitte’s more logical here and is rightfully worried about the future of war.

Chapter 11:
-Egwene almost steps into the gateway Bryne is using to spy on the Trolloc army… that would’ve been bad.
-It is quite clever to use the gateways that way. As Androl has found, gateways are useful in a variety of ways!
-The Grays are taking special interest in Traveling as their special weave. They’re experimenting with them and Yukiri’s hoping to figure out how to make one that’s like a window that you could stand on. That’s cool! :D
-Bryne isn’t optimally using the Aes Sedai forces (until Egwene asks after them). Is this Graendal’s influence or am I just being paranoid? :p

Chapter 12:
-I feel so bad for Birgitte. :( Losing her memories and not even certain if she’s still bound to the Horn.
-Rand opens himself to Lanfear in Tel’aran’rhiod, letting her see everything about him… this seems like a weird plot device, honestly, since this is the first we’ve ever heard of something like this being possible in the World of Dreams.
-Perrin asks around about entering Tel’aran’rhiod in the flesh.

Chapter 13:
-The Greens live up to their Ajah reputation and are really good fighters. :D
-It’s fun seeing the Aes Sedai so lauded and loved after they destroy all the trollocs, since usually we just see fear and suspicion around Aes Sedai.
-They burn Shienar as Lan’s army retreats. :( That’s sad. The Borerlanders are very practical, though.
-The Ogier are crazy fierce. Perrin worried they’d be concerned about endangering the trees, but the danger to the trees just makes them more intense.
-Perrin makes Tam a lord. That’s gotta be weird. Having one of your son’s best friends make you a lord.
-Taim’s Dreadlords arrive to fight Lan’s army. And everyone kinda freaks out that Asha’man are fighting for the Shadow… as they should.
-Perrin learns who really killed his family. :cry :cry
-Rand wonders about Bain and Chiad being gai’shain during the Last Battle and how that must feel for them… yeah, that must suck.
-Rand warns Perrin that dying in Tel’aran’rhiod can have ‘ramifications’. Does he mean being removed from the Pattern?
-Awww, Rand and Perrin saying goodbye. :cry

Chapter 14:
-The storm in Tel’aran’rhiod is worse near where Rand is in the real world.
-Gaul is remarkably self-controlled in Tel’aran’rhiod.
-Being in Tel’aran’rhiod in the flesh makes you stronger and Perrin’s able to resist the weakening effect of the dream spike shield more easily.
-Graendal’s been called in to help Taim with the Turning ‘cause he’s not doing it fast enough.
-Androl’s awesome! :D Turning Evin against the other Asha’man was a cool idea.
-Androl’s able to weave a Gateway even through the barrier of the dreamspike! :eek And catches balefire in it. So cool. :joy :joy
-And then the Two Rivers boys come to help. :joy I love everything about this scene. Yay tiny gateway! :joy
-Perrin sees Asha’man in Tel’aran’rhiod and considers going to talk to them, thinking Rand may have sent them… :brown-blink:
-Lanfear is weirdly obsessed with Perrin now.
-Did we know Lanfear was trying to help Rand win the Last Battle? I mean, I thought last we saw she was super pissed with him.
-Lanfear is somehow able to enter Tel’aran’rhiod even though the Dark One did something so that she shouldn’t be able to.
-Androl is amazing and makes a gateway to absorb Taim’s people’s weaves and throw it back at them. This reminds me of Portal. :look:

Chapter 15:
-Apparently Mat’s ‘prince of the ravens’ title is going to change because of Tuon’s ascension to the throne. What will it change to? Do we know?
-Rand gives Tam the amazing dragon sword. :D
-Tam actually fractures Rand’s arm. :brown-blink: :brown-blink: Luckily Healing is a thing.
-Tuon only let Mat take her since she saw him as fulfilling a prophecy and was curious… otherwise, she would’ve gotten away easily.
-It’s kinda fun that both Tuon and Mat just married each other due to prophecy.
-Tuon somehow knows about Mat saving someone (Moiraine). How? Has she just been reading signs?

Chapter 16:
-The Ogier have a war song that they apparently all know, despite how infrequently they go to war.
-The Trollocs are super terrified of the Ogier.
-Some Whitecloaks think that Ogier are Darkfriends. :rolleyes Thank you, Galad, for being reasonable.
-It’s super important that Rand has the dagger ter’angreal. The fact that the Dark One can’t see him is huge!
-Rand goes crazy Dragon Reborn on Tuon, freaking her out with his ancient memories and plant-growth power. (especially with there being peach blossoms)
-Rand still doesn’t know about Mat’s impressive battle knowledge.
-Moiraine asks that Rand prepare tea so that it can taste good. :p
-Deepe :cry

Chapter 17:
-Tuon’s original plan is to take Rand to Seanchan. She really doesn’t realize how important Rand is to the Last Battle… or she doesn’t realize how important the Last Battle is or that it’s happening right now.
-Mat notices that Rand’s singing to make the plants grow and blossom. But he’s singing “Two Maids at the Water’s Edge”. Is this ‘the Song’? Or does Rand just have to sing something to get this trick to work?
-Rand tries to make the Seanchan release all the captive channelers from this side of the ocean, but Tuon’s not having it. :( Though he’s at least able to stop them from taking any more outside their lands. (though that doesn’t help people in their lands who manifest the ability to channel and aren’t able to move before they’re found)

Chapter 18:
-They’re using the steam-powered carts from Rand’s school in Cairhien to carry supplies.
-Gawyn does consider talking to Egwene about the Bloodknife rings, but doesn’t want them locked away in a storeroom forever… and Egeanin tells Gawyn how to activate them. :rolleyes
-Cadsuane brings news to Rand that the Black Tower is safe now. It still sucks for the Black Tower people that Rand put off going there so long. :( He’s lucky they were able to save themselves.
-Gah! Baldhere realizes that Agelmar’s not up to his best! :desk But Aglemar’s super stubborn and (understandably) defensive about Lan criticizing him and berates him into letting the issue drop.

Chapter 19:
-Bashere realizes he’s not up to his best. He realizes he should’ve planned for the Trollocs’ plans to enter Ciarhien and should’ve seen it coming. He probably would have if it weren’t for Graendal. And, unfortunately, the reputation of the Great Captains means that the others (like Elayne) just go along with their plans since they seem sound.
-Bair returns to Rhuidean and sees the same thing Aviendha did. That’s so cool! :D
-The Dreadlords don’t mind using Balefire and tearing apart the Pattern, which gives them a bit of an ‘unfair’ advantage, since the Light’s forces can’t use the weave as recklessly.
-Egwene and the Wise Ones say goodbye. :( And she says goodbye to Tel’aran’rhiod (forever, since she dies in the Last Battle). :(
-The Seals are fake… so that’s terrifying.
-Mat’s weirdly obsessed with lace. He’s disappointed that the Seanchan don’t use it for military outfits. He requests all military outfits and then is sad that they don’t include lace. :p

Chapter 20:
-The Gateway the Sharans create is almost as wide as the camp. That’s insane.
-Egwene’s really quick on her feet here. Realizing that they can’t channel or they’ll die immediately. (like Romanda when she ignores Egwene)
-Lelaine has some knowledge of Shara from accounts from Cairhien, so she’s able to recognize them.
-Aviendha notices that Rand’s really anxious about something, but doesn’t know what. He’s freaked out about the Seals being fake.
-Many Aiel see the Dragon ‘breaking all ties’ as meaning that they can put aside their gai’shain white for the Last Battle. It makes sense. They could use all the Aiel warriors they can get!
-The dagger ter’angreal will even protect him to an extent while he’s fighting the Dark One. That’s an insanely important gift, Elayne! :eek
-Rand sends the Seanchan to help the White Tower armies… interesting choice. :arch

Chapter 21:
-Bryne using gateways for vision of the battlefield saved the life of those in the tent and probably many on the battlefield as well. He was able to drop an order to the armies immediately and then Yukiri was badass and had everyone jump through the gateway! :D
-Bryne worries, just like Bashere, that he should’ve seen a blindside coming.
-Lyrelle really underestimates the Asha’man, thinking that her Aes Sedai (who probably aren’t really trained in combat except the Greens) would be a match for a larger number of ‘untrained’ Asha’man. Little does she know, Asha’man are anything but untrained.
-Pevara tries to explain the errors in her mission to Lyrelle. Not every person would make a good Warder.
-Lyrelle wants to basically enslave Asha’man as Warders, just like a male a’dam and use them to fight for her ‘bonded and forced to her will’ in the last battle. :brown-blink: :brown-blink: Well then.

Chapter 22:
-The back tattoos that Sharans have are branded into them with the One Power.
-Leane is let to live to deliver a message to Rand.
-The wind in Tel’aran’rhiod is really strong and can actually alter the World of Dreams itself, which is impressive in a world that usually reflects reality. Perrin notices Tairen hats ‘blown all the way to Shienar’, but those could just be hats of Tairen people living in/visiting Shienar. I was more impressed with there being a ship sale blown into Kandor!
-Perrin, following Lanfear’s lead, creates a vacuum around himself to block sound. He doesn’t know why it works, but it does!
-Lanfear flies far up into the sky to reach the place in between everyone’s dreams. Is it actually the sky in Tel’aran’rhiod? Are the dream pinpricks then just the stars in Tel’aran’rhiod? Can you literally fly far into the sky to reach people’s dreams? From what we’d seen from Egwene, they seemed like separate places. (though, granted, Egwene was just learning about Tel’aran’rhiod, so they could very possibly be connected without Egwene realizing it)
-Perrin literally doesn’t kill one of the Forsaken because he realizes she’s female. :rolleyes Really, Perrin? It’s Graendal!
-Gaul recommends taking her gai’shain.
-The time distortion near Shayol Ghul is true in Tel’aran’rhiod as well.
-Lanfear helps Perrin see what Graendal’s doing to the Great Captains. Thanks, Lanfear! (I guess?)

So I got WAY ahead of the group with this book ... it felt like there was never a good place to stop once I got started, and now I'm almost finished listening to the entire book.

I just got to the part where Moiraine shows up and saves the day :pleased-1:
A bit cliché, but this is a classic, epic fantasy series, so I'll go with it :)
