Is out today featuring a large list of delightful reads including a new stormlight one.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/d/cka/Arcanum-Unbounded-Cosmere-Collection-Brandon-Sanderson/0765391163

The collection will include nine works in all. The first eight are:

The Hope of Elantris (Elantris)
The Eleventh Metal (Mistborn)
The Emperor's Soul (Elantris)
Allomancer Jak and the Pits of Eltania, Episodes 28 through 30 (Mistborn)
White Sand" (excerpt; Taldain)
"Shadows for Silence in the Forests of Hell (Threnody)
Sixth of Dusk (First of the Sun)
Mistborn: Secret History (Mistborn)

These wonderful works, originally published on Tor.com and elsewhere individually, convey the expanse of the Cosmere and tell exciting tales of adventure Sanderson fans have come to expect, including the Hugo Award-winning novella, The Emperor's Soul and an excerpt from the graphic novel "White Sand."

Arcanum Unbounded will also contain the Stormlight Archive novella "Edgedancer," which will appear in this book for the first time anywhere. It is a story of Lift, taking place between Words of Radiance and the forthcoming Oathbringer.

Finally, this collection includes essays and illustrations for the various planetary systems in which the stories are set.

Really loving this so far, the images of the systems and the intro about each is lovely information and the extra stories ive not read are nice to have.

A pain the graphic novel excerpt is included as it makes the ebook humongous, thankfully with calibre I stripped all that out (now 4.5mb down from 92mb!).

He included the prologue from white sand the novel too with some slight editing (I compared against the free version he gives out) nothing plot changing just some tidying. Its a shame he didn't include the full thing since he gives it out anyway.

I loved it. The little introductions to each planetary system by Khriss were so fascinating and tantalizing. And Edgedancer was great indeed.

Just curious had you read White Sand?

To me that whole section seemed a bit lame, trying to flog the graphic novel and giving an excerpt of the prose novel that noone can get without asking Brandon for it anyway. Id rather they released a proper copy of white sand and had the intro from khriss in that or had included the full white sand with an authors note about its past.

I'd read White sand so it annoyed me less than if I hadn't already got a copy.

I actually just skipped the White Sand part after reading the Taldain introduction. I haven't read either the original unpublished novel or the published graphic novel, so I'll go back to that once I've read the graphic novel and then I can read the excerpt of the novel.

I've been enjoying this so much. I hadn't read a lot of the material included, including the previously published things like Mistborn: A Secreat History and The Emporer's Soul. That last one may be one of my new favorite Sanderson works, I read it in one evening and was so immersed in the situation and the characters. A little over halfway through now, I'm reading everything in order. The map of the star systems made me have a fangirl moment though!

I had read almost all of this before, the only things that were new to me where White Sand and the Edgedancer excerpt. I am reading Edgedancer right now, it is fascinating...

Yeah, the only "bad" thing about Edgedancer is that it is actually moving plots forward, meaning that you should read this novel in order to understand what happens later :look: Or at least that is my guess :look:

I thoroughly enjoyed this, and intend to pick up a copy of White Sands, which I had ignored until now. Reading the graphic novel portion on my phone was annoying, but I enjoyed the story.

I actually hadn't read most of the pieces in the collection, and I really enjoyed them. The Emporer's Soul and Edgedancer were my two favorites.

White Sands was a huge letdown, in that, I bought the book as an ebook, and I read it on my ereader, and, well ... they don't typically do comics that well.

I haven't finished the entire book yet, but it's nice to see so much more of the Cosmere. I liked Mistborn: Secret History. I liked the idea of Threnody, and hope we'll see more of it in the future. First of the Sun was also interesting, especially with the speculations that the Ones Above are space travellers from Scadriel.
