Regarding the Tuatha'an:

I always figured it was the song that the Aiel and Ogier sung in the fields to make crops grow, and that some partnership with the Aiel and the columns would help them re-discover it.

Me too, Elania. I think the Companion's commentary makes sense, though, even if I may not like it much.

I read Mat‘s first and I was disappointed there was no little tidbit, even whether he had actually been born outside the Two Rivers (which I always kinda wanted cleared up - Moiraine was obviously interested in him for his birthday and I had hoped there was just a bit more intrigue about which of the three it could have been with at least them all also born outside the Two Rivers)

Edit: Never mind, I checked our library and found out that it's strongly hinted in TSR Ch 17.
