Feast of Lights 2011 Charity: Room to Read

In our commitment to philanthropy, TarValon.Net hosts an annual charity fundraiser drive during our winter Feast of Lights festival. This year our chosen charity, as voted for by members of the community, is Room to Read.

Room to Read seeks to transform the lives of millions of children in the developing world by focusing on literacy and gender equality in education. Working in collaboration with local communities, partner organizations and governments, Room to Read develops literacy skills and a habit of reading among primary school children and ensures that girls have the skills and support needed to complete their secondary education.

Room to Read works to provide quality educational opportunities by establishing libraries, creating local language children's literature, constructing schools, and providing education to girls. The organization seeks to intervene early in the lives of children in the belief that education empowers people to improve socioeconomic conditions for their families, communities, countries and future generations.

Over the past ten years over 6 million children have benefited from Room to Read programs. This year, we at TarValon.Net hope to raise $2,500 to help this phenomenal charity continue to bring literature into the lives of children throughout the world.

We hope to exceed our goal of $2,500 and we are offering a bunch of prizes as bonus incentive for you to donate!

First of all, if our goal is met a special free week will be hosted during February! Since our previous fundraiser effort still has a free week outstanding, there will in fact be a free fortnight (2 weeks) -- but only if we meet that goal! During these free weeks, there will be a host of fun, theme-filled activities and full avatar changes for everyone in the Faire Grounds.

The next prize involves a drawing from the names of all donors. Five lucky people will receive special titles for the entire month of February. And one lucky person will get to be Master or Mistress of Ceremonies for our special free fortnight.

Finally, anyone who donates $50 or more will be entered into a draw for the chance to win a $20 Amazon.com certificate, and anyone donating over $100 will be entered for a chance to win a $30 Amazon.com certificate.
