I might not be the best reader...
I was so excited to learn that Rand was the answer to some terrible prophecy that I went out and bought book 2 on the same day! It took me some time to read book one and hopefully it will take a few episodes to learn that Rand is the Dragon. I did not know all that the prophecy meant. Thom and Moraine gave us readers quite a few hints but I have to admit that I did not see them on my first read through. I had to go back and re-read it to see all the foreshadowing.

There's also all the times Rand channels in the first book, which the astute reader might notice

I think those are *really* subtle, though, right up until the final battle at the Eye. Even knowing Rand was the chosen one, I didn't really realize things like the lightning strike in the barn, etc, were channeling until after I'd read the whole book (and possibly not until I saw someone mention it). The narrative is really indirect in indicating that there's anything supernatural about them at first.

It's quite possible I was less observant than many readers, though. I always end up having to go online after reading dense books to see what others teased out of them. :p

The show-runner is a fan of the series, and it looks like a bunch of the writers are as well. I'm cautiously optimistic.

After so much screwing around for so long (damn you Red Eagle and Larry Mondragon! Never forget!) hard to believe it's finally actually looking like happening.

Starting to feel my hopes getting up

I wished so hard, I've decided I'm going to love it no matter what, like a child.

I'm glad Brandon Sanderson thinks the fanbase will like the changes, but I personally am one of those people who gets so annoyed when things are different than the book! I guess I'll just have to get over it :cheese

I am so with you. I don't need verbatim page-by-page dialogue, but little details like Bela being a small brown horse and not a gray or white one... that being different would irritate me. It won't make me stop watching (the series means too me to me) but I reserve the right to grumble about details. :cheese

As for those of you who missed things on your first read of TEotW - like the lightning strike, or Bela not being tired when Moraine goes to Heal her - I think a lot of us did.

My dad listens to the books and while he was waiting for the last book, he just kept listening and relistening to the series. He said he always found some detail he missed the last time around. I think it's just part of RJ's writing style. There's SO MUCH detail, you're bound to miss things. :look

Particularly when you don't know what you're looking for. During the reread you know the series so it's really fun to find small details that foreshadow something big later on. :cheese
