To expand. Jim and Harriet did a phenomenal job picking Brandon to carry the torch, so if she had anything to do with picking Rafe then I’m all in.

Reeeeeeally hoping that tweet signals they’re closer to having a network sign on. Sony has done some interesting work, and there are some networks mentioned in the rumor mill that could be great homes for this story.

Fingers crossed!

Taking a pic of the entire series - could be a really fun show and tell/artistic endeavor.

If they are pictures of our shelves...

Are they shelvies?

:look:

(Also Jeffan you should totally do that. I want to creep people’s book collections. I mean. Admire. Not creep.)

(Also rereading my first two sentences, I heard them in Sean Connery’s voice.)

This is exciting! I was just wondering the other day if we'd had any more news.

*wonders idly if I got the series in the divorce* :look:

Do we think that the New Spring plot will be included? It could work as flashbacks from Moiraine or something, at least the important parts. You know, not the need-more-dresses part ;)

Did every EOTW lose its first page. I know mine did :)

I think there is some impossibility to maintaining the full story of 14 books. I believe a condensed version would need to exist, and it will satisfy some and not all as is the history of all such books to movie or books to series.

However, I hope they do not use their artistic license too much, but also have it continue its compelling storyline in a way that will attract new viewers and funding for future seasons beyond the WoT fanbase. This is how a show gains momentum to finish it to completion and not end up incomplete

Probably the best way to do the first pilot would be to do a better remake of The Winter Dragon, then cut to NS, then cut to Emond's Field with the very last scene being Tam and Rand stalked by the Fade. Rand looks back, sees the Fade, the Fade stares back......then, end credits. The second episode could pick up with EOTW after that.

I could easily see NS being an entire episode, but a lot of it is not really needed because of how detailed the descriptions are.

I would love New Spring to be included somehow. I agree with Narysse that it's not all needed so maybe an extended episode or something.

I agree with your comments on condensing, Mathei. Frankly, there’s so much information in the books that the majority of non WoT fan viewers could be overwhelmed and lose interest.

Hmm. For those of you familiar with Stargate maybe the way that was handled (major movie then a three hour long storyline divided into a pilot and continuing episodes) may be the way to handle this appropriately. TV movie pilot, then episodes.

I feel like New Spring could be done in an extended “special” episode.

Or Winter Dragon Remake, then a NS segment, then Moraine in Emond's Field, then fleeing from the Dragkhar, then end credits and pick up Episode 2 with Baerlon.

So many possibilities.

First thought: How in the world did Rafe Judkins get a hold of my books?!?!

Second thought: How did I (and Mr. Judkins by extension) never learn?... after the first one fell apart, and the second...I can't believe I made it to book 14 without considering breaking the book abuse cycle and just buying a hardback copy O_O

I always loved the hardback copies more. They felt so.. substantial.

@Jeffan Caliarthan that would be awesome for a social media thingy. Let us know if you do it!

I gave up after a few years and had to get hardcovers. The falling apart was getting ridiculous.
