(Sorry for the late update. I was out of town and forgot what day it was, for like 5 days in a row. :look: )

Reading about Faile's first few days of captivity... A) I'm seriously surprised that they all survived without permanent physical damage; and B) at this point I never imagined they would stay captured for SO LONG. :x

In most rereads, there are chapters that are glossed over or bypassed. For me, they're Faile's capture and rescue and Elayne's war of succession ... "Wet Things" is just ..... I'm at loss for words.

Yeah, Failes capture plot is in idea excellent, but it becomes so dragged out it turns so, so tedious :yawn
This is the point where RJ loved his world a bit too much, and started feeling the need to give us EVERY DETAIL. And the editors let him :rolleyes

Yes, it might have been better if the chapters did at least switch at other people than Perrin and Faile et al. :shifty

It always annoys me that Morgase never revealed her identity about now. I know there's no real useful reason why she should, but it just started to bother me how long she'd been keeping that secret and I wanted it to come out already!

I guess she thought she could be used as a hostage (by Perrin, Rand, Shaido) to undermine Elayne. I'm pretty sure RJ and BS made it so that Perrin's ta'veren needs required her hidden identity till Galad's appearance to preside over the trial and resolve Perrin's Whitecloak dilemma; and help him with Elayne's :desk annoying "tell me why I shouldn't just execute you for rebels?" nonsense! (did you hear a loud, crunchy teeth-grind?)

Oh just you wait till we get to that bit, I will very probably rant for an entire page about just how stupid Elayne was about Perrin and the Two rivers in that.

WH - 7

Why didn't Elayne use Traveling to get her prisoners to Camelyn?

WH - 8

I don't care, Tai'shar Manatheran from Lan to Nyneave is the most adorable and awesome thing in the entire series.

WH - 9

Tai'shar Andor, Daelin is absolutely ballsy here.

Re: Re-Readalong: Winter's Heart -- Chapters 8-11

I'm super excited for Mat chapters. :pleased-1: I might've read a little ahead this week because I just couldn't help myself.

As always at this point, I go "wait, how does Mat know Joline and Teslyn?" It's like my brain just refuses to remember that info, no matter how many times I re-read. :x

He met them briefly when he first entered the Palace, they were involved in a bit of Mat-tug-of-war :p
And Teslyn slipped the note into his jacket...

I'm further behind than I thought. :look:

I read the first sister ceremony today at lunch and was afraid I'd start crying in public.

WH - 7

Why didn't Elayne use Traveling to get her prisoners to Camelyn?

 Are you implying that Elayne should actually think before she acts? She sent a message by Traveling (most probably) to bring the prisoners back to Caemlyn on horseback. That's just vintage Elayne!

WH - 8

Agreed. I love that Nynaeve moment. And it shows who the leader is between Nynaeve and Elayne ;)

It always disappoints me that we see it from Elayne's perspective and she's been mentally complaining about Nynaeve. I have to readjust my mindset from "Nynaeve is annoying" to "Awww sweet Nynaeve/Lan moment!"

Well I am not sure we want to see that from Nynaeve's point of view because I am fairly certain on the inside she was babbling on the inside like a goofball.

WH – 11 – It is sad to see Lan and Rand..being mistrustful of each other here. Lan having a Father like relationship with Rand is one of my favorite things throughout the series. Lan never replaces Tam as Rand's father in Rand's mind but The Warder acts like a Guardian to The Dragon Reborn many times as the series goes.

Wh-12 – Rand and Elayne sexy fun times.

WH-13 – This POV with Cadsuane is one of the reasons I hate her. She is at best a mean bully here. She is being rude to a seafolk ambassador who, while being a bit of a jerk herself does have a point in that Cadsuane is holding one of her people against her will, and Rand is violating their agreement.

Oh no Alanna passed out cause Eylane Bonded Rand. Let me express my sympathy for her.

*points and laughs until he is on the ground in pain from laughter*

Yes, that is mean but I don't care. Alanna deserved it, and a great deal more.

WH – 14 - Oh Tuan, from one character I feel nothing but contempt for to one that I have such mixed feeling on. On one hand Tuan is pretty much the perfect Foil for Mat, and the relationship between them is great.

On the other hand..SEANCHAN.

WH – 15

Yay Mat!

I pity poor Aludra she is set up as sort of a Post Tylin romance for the guy. And Oliver is turning into a Ladies man..because of everyone but Matrim Cauthon who NEVER ever flirts with girls. Ever. You know after all of his teaching from the Band of the Red Hand I am willing to bet that Oliver could have his own series of books, the dude is going to be a master Horse Thief, Swordsman, Quarterstaff user, Archer, Glee Man..all rolled into one.

WH – 16

Hello Jain, and Gholam again.

WH – 17

I can't wait till this chapter gets put onto a show simply because The Dice Stopping and Mat completely freezing at the absolute worst time will be great.

WH – 18

This is another set of chapters were I wish we had the alternate POVs. Like I am really curious to what Tuon is thinking when she sees Mat for the first time, and catches his Ashandarai, especially when she catches him sneaking down from the Damane Pens.

Does she already know that she will end up married to our Gambling, Carousing Nobility hating Mat?
WH 19 – Oh poor poor Mat, If he had just kept his mouth shut about that letter his life would have been so much easier.

WH 20/21 – It is funny, The Seeker is right, Suroth is in a conspiracy to gain her power and screw with the empire, it just has nothing to do with the people he thinks it does.

WH 22 – Rand's plan here is actually really smart, he brings The Ash'aman to a place where he is at his real advantage.

Re: Re-Readalong: Winter's Heart -- Chapters 2-7

As usual, on track with reading, but behind on typing up my notes. :p

Chapter 2:
-Berelain tries to comfort Perrin and he snaps at her. Annoura is miffed that he was so rude to Berelain.
-I keep forgetting that ‘shambayan’ is a term used throughout the Borderlands and keep thinking it only applies to Shienar. So I always get confused when I hear of Faile wanting a shambayan. :look: :embarassed:

Chapter 3:
-Morgase growls and Faile compares it to a lion.

Chapter 4:
-Faile can’t understand why an Aes Sedai would be with Sevanna, seemingly subservient to her. Faile recognizes the Great Serpent Ring. Faile assumes Galina has her own plots and that’s why she’s there. A fair conclusion. Most people wouldn’t just assume that an Aes Sedai is anywhere against their will.
-Faile wants to have Lini talk to Maighdin about her demeanor, quite unlike that of a maid.
-Faile accidentally reveals her nationality with the ‘t’ prefix in her last name.
-Galina takes advantage of people assuming Aes Sedai can’t lie. Faile just assumes that Galin will help them escape, even though she doesn’t trust her, because she assumes Galina can’t lie.

Chapter 5:
-Perrin just cannot trust Berelain, even when he admits that she smells honest. He’s shocked that she can so honestly say that she hopes Faile is alive. I realize they don’t like each other and Berelain does annoy me with how she tries to get between Faile and Perrin and play around with them… but she has never shown that she wishes Faile were dead. :brown-blink: Come on, Perrin! She smells honest!
-Berelain offers a truce until Faile is found (she considers her messing around with Perrin/Faile to be a big game). Perrin refuses to even acknowledge it. :desk Berelain really does want to help. He’s shocked that Berelain would smell affronted after he refused her offer of a truce.
-Manetheren’s borders had extended almost to modern Murandy. It was huge.

Chapter 6:
-Gill doesn’t lie when he tells Perrin that it’s like he’s known Maighdin his whole life.
-Perrin is planning to send Masema and his army ahead without him.
-The Aiel won’t mention Bain and Chiad by name since it would dishonor them to acknowledge them being named gai’shain.
-Perrin wonders if the Forsaken had to do with the Shaido being scattered across the continent, then dismisses it immediately because how could the Forsaken have anything to do with this?
-Awww, Aiel rag doll dressed in cadin’sor.
-Who is the non-Shaido army that the Warders and Elyas find?
-Two Rivers cats all have 6 toes. Huh. :brown-blink:
-Perrin’s ta’verenness makes Masema follow Perrin and not go straight to Rand.

Chapter 7:
-Elayne can feel Aviendha after the First Sister ceremony, though it feels different from the Warder bond.
-Who are all the Aes Sedai in Caemlyn at the Silver Swan? :scratch
-Elayne is baffled why Elaida would want her so much.
-Elayne doesn’t seem to understand why everyone’s so concerned about keeping her safe. “You would think she had never been in Ebou Dar, much less Tanchico, or Falme.” Umm, that’s exactly why they’re worried. :p Just ‘cause you escaped before, doesn’t mean you will again. Even an Aes Sedai can be killed.

-In the past, Warders weren’t always asked whether they wanted to bond before they were bonded.
-Elayne criticizes Birgitte’s language and she has a good retort that at least she uses the swear words correctly.

Chapters 17-19

I noticed something when Mat is surprised by Tuon leaving the damane quarters. Tuon keeps popping up around corners at Mat... it is almost like she's trying to get a horse used to her presence, so it will accept more contact :look:
Am I reading that right? I know she is a excellent trainer. She trains damane, horses and other of the Seanchan exotics. Just though I'd put that out.

The non-Shaido army is the Whitecloak army. The Aes Sedai in Caemlyn are "non-aligned" with either faction of the Tower split, like Cadsuane's bunch.

My opinion is that she is drawn to him (ta'veren tug, I guess) since the omens say he might be her future husband. She says clearly after completing her marriage ceremony that seeing Mat's signet ring almost made her heart stop. She is trying to learn about him; like when he found her in Tylin's rooms examining his Ashandarei and reading its script.

She tried to "train" Mat in manners; but she clearly failed; or the results were way below her expectations. No one tames Mat Cauthon

She is sizing up a horse in a sense, remember the foretelling on the ship.

"Beware the fox that makes the ravens fly, for he will marry you and carry you away. Beware the man who remembers Hawkwing's face, for he will marry you and set you free. Beware the man of the red hand, for him you will marry and none other."

She knew what he was meant to be the moment he saw that signet ring.

So we're not to Crossroads of Twilight yet, but I'm washing silk and it turns out the infamous Faile washes Sevanna's silks scene is actually exactly how to hand wash silk. I can't stop thinking of it as I'm washing.
