Random Mistborn title question

I'm reading Brandon Sanderson's first Mistborn trilogy, and I've started noticing online that pretty much everywhere calls the first book "Mistborn: The Final Empire." Or just "The Final Empire."

This is curious to me, because my book is explicitly simply called (on the title page) "Mistborn." Then the second book is "The Well of Ascension" and so on.

Does anyone know why the title change happened, and if it's just an oddity for this one printing or something? Wikipedia has failed me in this quest for information.

The box set I bought is here: http://www.amazon.com/Mistborn-Tril...=UTF8&qid=1435775895&sr=1-1&keywords=mistborn

The full name of the novel is Mistborn: The Final Empire. Pretty much everyone just refers to it as Mistborn, though. Every copy I've seen only had "Mistborn" on it; can't say why.

Likely something similar to what happened with Star Wars?
It started out as the book title, but once the book took off he wanted to call all the books that. Not sure the official word though.

People call it The Final Empire when they want to differentiate between Mistborn the first book and Mistborn the trilogy of books. :cheeseeni: I think the book now does say Mistborn: The Final Empire on the cover, on all the new printings.

Huh. I have this version so I always think of it as 'The Final Empire'. But I just flicked through it and the pages are all headed 'Mistborn'. Wil's guess seems likely to me. :cheeseeni:
