Hammar, sorry...didn't mean to make you "vomit" but just had some questions due to some other questions that were asked of me.

Aijalyn, my comments were not even remotely directed at you. I was just mainly asking Hammer and even the Board the purpose of expressing ourselves. I think it is good if this is a way of just letting our feelings out, getting our questinos answered, etc. IF they are "polling" to get membership input to see how WE feel in order to prosecute or not, I would like that information also. So I think that my question has validity. Again, I am not saying that feelings or opinions are not valid in and of themselves, I just want to know the "why" and purpose of asking for our opinions instead of just asking for clarification of legal issues. Because honestly, if we are asking our opinions of the membership if we should prosecute, I would vote "no". Let Riley get a payment plan to pay it back, ban him, and then revamp how we do things.

However, my questions were directly about the corporation, the Board, and their responsibility and how legally they must or must not respond to this issue regardless of how we personally feel. Thanks again Hammer...you are awesome, I think our Board is awesome in how they have handled this and quite frankly, I would feel comfortable donating again in the future and also paying in advance for group discounts on Anni next year.

We have never asked the membership for their vote. Nowhere have we stated we were having a "poll." As far as I can tell, no one thinks or has even suggested such a thing. Members are simply expressing their feelings and opinions, which is normal and expected.

Miridyth, I think he just meant that long of a message on his phone would be truly terrible.

I want it made plain that I never said it was the Sites fault that Riley did this. That's just ridiculous.

No one was saying you did. Deoan was speaking in a broader sense, sharing his opinion on the matter re: whether or not it was on us if/when Riley receives his consequences.

I agree with him 100%. Riley did all this to himself. If his life sucks from now on, that's his fault, too.

Nope not pointed at you. There were several people posting that they would feel bad for ruining his life if he was prosecuted. That's taking blame that doesn't belong here. Just reminding people that they should let it lie where it belongs, on the one that committed a crime.

I do feel bad for him, and I will if his life is destroyed by this, but that's not taking the blame here. I have a large capacity for compassion, sometimes when I really shouldn't. But I can see, and empathize with both sides in most cases, it's part of why I am Gray.

I believe most of us think we have a capacity for compassion. As Jalen stated, if people are getting offended by things, it may be good to take a step back. No one wants to make this into a flame war.

I'm not offended, or trying to offend, nor wanting to turn this into a flame war, just trying to explain me, and why I feel the way I do. That's all :)

I didn't think you wanted to turn this into a flame war. I'm responding to the series of posts that were made in this thread after my last one. It just so happened that yours was the one before mine, and the compassion comment struck a chord with me. I probably should have started another paragraph after that to make it clear that I'm talking about the thread in general. Given the reputation that some of us who are posting have, I think that it's important to clarify the rationale behind a lot of those posts. Like I said, Jalen's words hold true and apply to all people involved in this conversation.

I personally have a selective capacity for compassion. "My good opinion once lost is lost forever," etc. Just call me Darcy Sedai.

Compassion does not require you to release someone from consequences. :look:

Which is why no one is advocating a course of action that involves hunting Riley down and breaking his kneecaps.
