If you would like to bid on a location for the 2012 North American Anni event, please send an e-mail titled Anni 2012 Bid to naevents@tarvalon.net, events@tarvalon.net, and officers@tarvalon.net. Bids need to be submitted by February 21st, 2011.

Things to keep in mind when submitting a bid:
- If your bid is selected, YOU will be an integral part of the planning. By making a bid, you are volunteering to be the local liaison. What does that mean? You will be expected to do a lot of the leg work to find sites to host the event, local activities, and transportation options.
- Anni is generally held in the spring (think February or March) in a campground type location. Site should have cabins, kitchen space for meal preps, and spaces for events like sword fighting or archery.
- Preferred site locations would be moderately isolated. We tend to be fairly loud so being 10 feet from a cabin holding a girl scout meet wouldn't be the best location.
- Normal Anni attendance is 75-100 people.

Please include the following information in your bid and aim to use the following headings:

Name, rank and organization of submitter(s)

Overview
Location
Personal experience with the area
Why you think the location would be our best option

Location
City (overview & details)
Site Options (URL & Phone Numbers)
Transportation (Major Airports in the area, options for people to get to the site, distance of the site from a major airport)

Support
Point of Contact - Who would serve as local liaison for the event?
Other – additional Tower volunteers who will help facilitate event

Please let us know, if you have any questions!

I'm curious...Regarding the transportation, how do people normally get to the campsite/cabins if they are flying in to the area? Is this something where they normally carpool with people who have driven to the event, or do they take a taxi or other mode of transportation?

I'm not Cassie Sedai, but I know the answer, sort of. It's a combination of any or all of the above plus public transportation. Attendees have to make their own arrangements, whatever those may be. :)

Ninya pretty much covered it. A thread is generally created for people to post flight arrival times and work out getting a local to pick them up or pooling money for a rental car or taxi. As far as bids are concerned, we want to be sure there is a major airport in the area, and by major I mean more than 10 flights a day and a rental car office. ;)

Crop dusters don't count as transportation?? :P Darn!!

And thanks Ninya and Cassie Sedai. I'll keep that in mind should I submit a proposal. ;)

I agree with warm.

Tennessee: chilly, rainy, muddy.
Chicago: cold, tornadoes.
Denvers 1-3: snow.
Wisconsin: cold, snow.

I'm sensing a trend. :p

Ninya, I'd say over an hour drive from an airport is probably pushing the limit. However, if it's a SUPER AWESOME location of AWESOMENESS, then being 90 minutes from an airport probably wouldn't rule it out.

Also, if you have a location you think would be great, submit a bid even if you think it has flaws. We don't rule out locations just because of one or two things. We take all the bids and try to find the best option at the best price. The more options we have to look through, the more likely we're going to have a spectacular location.

C'Mon Arizona!!! This time of year out in the desert is PERFECT!!! An Anni party in Phoenix would ROCK...especially if the Phx Renn Fest is on! That would be awesome. I just don't live out there anymore so I can't submit as a local liason. :P So, c'Mon Arizonans!!!!!!!!! Or even southern Cali. :P

Is there any way we can see a previous successful bid? If it's not possible I understand. But I'd really love to see an estimate of previous costs for sites so I don't find something that would be way overpriced and not realize it. If that makes sense?

Lia, I'll see if I can at least work up what sort of numbers we've had in the past and post so you have an idea. This is the week of visiting parents so I may get sidetracked, if so, look at the cost of lodging for 80 people and if it looks like lodging alone will be more than $100 per person, it's probably on the too expensive side. That's my rough guess for the morning. :)

Again, when in doubt, submit it anyway. We like lots of choices. :)
