Hi! I'm Leo Kian. I'm an Aes Sedai of the Blue Ajah, and also the Mayor of TarValon.Net. I'm so happy you decided to stop by our site. Here, I'll be talking a little bit about how to make yourself right at home.
First thing's first: there are plenty of people here to help you if you find yourself in need of assistance or simply would like someone with whom you can chat. Please feel free to send a Visitor Message to any one of us with any questions or concerns (details on how to do this are below). I promise we don't bite! We would love for you to find a home here and stick around!
Saying Hello:
Post an introduction thread!
The first thing you can do to say hello is to make a new thread all about you.
To do so, go back to the Introductions Forum and press the big grey button at the top that says, "+ Post New Thread." Stumped on what to write about? You can answer some or all of these questions:- Who is your favorite character in The Wheel of Time and why?
- How did you find TarValon.Net?
- What do you do? (student? job? hobbies?)
- Where are you from? What languages to you speak?
- What is your favorite book or author other than Robert Jordan and The Wheel of Time?

Send a message message!
All members can send two kinds of messages to individuals: profile messages, which are public; and private messages, which are -- surprise! -- private.
To send a private message to someone, click on their profile picture. This will create a popup. Click "Start a conversation" in the popup. This will take you to a new page, where you can compose a message. When you're done, just click "Start a conversation," and the message will send. You can also preview the message before sending by clicking "Preview message."
If you want to send a profile message, you should also click on the individual's profile picture. However, in the popup, click "Profile page." You will see a text box on this page; compose your message, then click "Post." That's it!
Someone sent me a visitor message. What do I do?
After you join, you can expect a member of the Welcoming Committee to send you a message to say hello. The Welcoming Committee consists of a handful of our members who are nice enough to put time aside to help you get oriented. They volunteered for this and want to meet you, learn about you, and help you, so please approach them if you have any questions!

The Welcoming Committee:
The Welcoming Committee is a group of individuals who have volunteered their time to help newcomers like yourself feel right at home. These are members of varying ranks in the site, but they all have one thing in common: they're really friendly.

Other members of the website have also volunteered to be kind, patient, and welcoming resources for you. They have expressed that they want new members to talk to them - they want to meet people like you! Perhaps their message boxes are a little light lately and would like a conversation. A visitor message from you would warm their day and who knows, you might find a new best friend.
Any of these members are also great candidates for sponsors if you end up applying to join the Tower in the future. Friendships often take a long time to build and grow, so if you know that the Tower is your destination in the future, it's a good idea to start making connections now!

My previous blurb called me the grumpyface; not because I am actually unfriendly, but because I am sometimes a bit of a stick in the mud. I try not to be; I do pursue genuine happiness with each day, and take them as they come. I love my wife, and my dogs, and I can tolerate my job. I am confident things will get better over time, as life ages like fine wine. I can only hope I acquire wisdom before my time is done.
