New forum: Guilds?

Yeah I think Alora's use of the term Guilds doesn't refer to our previous Guilds, but rather a place for the various groups (like Band of the Red Hand, etc.) that form around the boards. So instead of their threads being in General/other forums they would have a specific place. I think that's a great idea myself.

The majority of us cannot access the Apartment forum. I am a Novice and several others are still Novices or Citizens as well.

I'm curious as to why Frivolous Fun isn't working for your purposes? If you feel the need for several threads for your Brand of the Red Hand thingy, then just make several threads in Frivolous Fun. Why would there need to be another, separate forum for groups of members? There are so many little cliques that members have been apart of for years and none of them required their own forum, so I don't see how your situation is any different.

I think it's an interesting idea and at least merits looking into.

The apartments do work for that I'm sure, but only for senior members and resident citizens. The rest of us can't access those forums.

I think Frivolous Fun is a perfectly acceptable place for such threads. It's why the forum exists, after all- why create a redundant forum? :scratch

(In other words: How exactly would you prevent this forum from turning into a regurgitation of Frivolous Fun? Wouldn't it make more sense to use FF OR if a change MUST happen, to open the Apartments to all ranks and call it good?)

Edit: I really do feel like this proposal would simply mirror the intent of not only Frivolous Fun, but also the Apartments, the Tavern, the Hallways, and the Gatehouse. The only difference, really, would be that all ranks have access. It would be just another redundant spam ground, and I REALLY don't think that's necessary.

I think the main issue is the fact that we are spamming the sh*t out of our Brand thread and 50 pages ain't getting it. I believe the thought process was to keep the Brand of the Red Hand from having a billion locked threads at 50 pages all over the General forum. I am perfectly happy to be in Frivolous Fun if the page count could be raised somehow. We honestly don't want to spam up the place... we're just silly and enjoy being silly together. I am relatively new so I don't know the answers and I'm not tech savvy so I don't know how this forum "works" tech wise. I understand that having to have moderators and etc. would be a pain, and that a whole separate forum would be redundant and I agree with these points. I also see Alora's point in starting this discussion as a way to keep us from spamming everything up and annoying other members. I think opening the Apartments to all members isn't a good idea, as those are forums for senior members and a priviledge to be earned. Maybe keeping the Tavern open to Novices/Recruits? Again, I don't know the answers, I'm just thinking out loud here.
