It was the last name my husband used at the site where we first met. I figured that, if I ever got him to join, he'd probably stick with that name, so I wouldn't have to change mine again. :pleased-1:

Now there is some forward thinking.

I have to say the Dragonlance series was one of the first big fantasy series I ever read. As soon as I read where u got Khisanth from it clicked. Awesome pick.

I got my name from a combination of things. Lei'Le (pronounced Lay-Lee) sounds similar to my regular name and it has a WoT feel to it. Vumf is simple but complicated...basically, #5 is Alive!

New name ... :) I'll start with the last name, a clear Lord of the Rings reference and name. Haldir was an elf warden of Lothlorien. The El' just sounds like a nice last name prefix :) As to the first name, I don't know if there is a specific meaning; but I wanted the cool WoT "Al" in the name.

Kyredeon is the name of a minor character in a series called "The Outcast Chronicles" by Rowena Cory Daniells and Trevath is the name of one of the nations in "The Chronicles of the Necromancer" and "The Fallen Kings Cycle" by Gail Z. Martin. I liked the sound of them together, so i chose it as my name. I highly recommend both series' to any fantasy lover, especially the books by Gail Martin.

Well, Jeff being the shortened version of Jeffery, means Gift of Peace which is the true aim of the Jeff Services. Something I believe that the Greys might appreciate.

Indeed we might. :D

My nane is botanical Latin. I'm a horticulturist.

Interesting. I went to high school with a girl named Arisema and I always wondered if it meant something. Now I know!

There were soo many people here with all sorts of names when I joined.. so I wanted to be different and picked a letter that hardly anyone had. Q. Then I scoured baby name sites to find one I liked before I settled on Qamra. It means "moon" and is arabic. Nothing too profound.

As for Daielin... I originally thought of a name that sounded great... and it turned out the reason it sounded great was that it was from the WoT books.. so I had to change it by adding a letter to make it different.

Yes, yay for moons! I actually pronounce my last name as "Moon"lear. I didn't like the way it was spelled so used u like you would in rune. I'm a Cancer so I'm also a moon child so that's how I came up with my last name. Plus, I like the moon! No scary moon monkey videos please. I forget what those scary sponge monkey things are called. :look:  They disturb me. :brown-blink:

My first name is actually a name of a character from the Mithgar series by Dennis McKiernan. I really should re-read those. It's been a long time!

I've posted this before in my introduction thread, but here it goes again for the official record... :)

My name is made up of three names.

"Pol" was inspired by Polgara from David Eddings' wonderful series, the Belgariad and Mallorean. She is my favorite character from those books because she's kind, powerful, and respected by even her worst enemies. That's was big deal for someone who is/was quiet and shy as I was/am. She didn't have to talk much or put on a huge display in order to get people's attention.

Then there is "eg" from Egwene and "nyn" from Nynaeve. I couldn't decide between Egwene or Nynaeve as my favorite character at the time so I'm glad to have both of them as inspiration. I like Egwene's levelheaded nature and patience in all her dealings. Nynaeve... well, who wouldn't want to be self-secure as she is :p Besides, I grew up a tomboy, too, and understand how fun it is to prove naysayers wrong. We have a lot of other things in common as well.

"Nemeara" is inspired by Nynaeve's surname. I liked "al'meara" but that was going to be too obvious a reference to Nynaeve.

Pronunciation of the first name is a bit of a tongue twister. I generally think of it as Pol-egg-nyn and not Po-leg-nyn. But I've always wanted a RL nickname as my real name is so short and never afforded that opportunity like a tough-to-pronounce alias. I went by "Pol" elsewhere because of this. "Pol" was already taken here, but Kerwin coined the nickname "Nem" soon after joining TarValon.net. I loves it just as much :pleased-1:

Arisaema are classed as aroids in the group of arums. Their largest family group is Araecea. We know them as Jack-in-the Pulpit.

I love this thread! :D

I picked Stasia from Anastasia, as in the Russian princess. I made up the last name because I thought it sounded good. I added the t' because I liked Saldeans... I was too young at the time for it to occur to me that it was a marriage prefix. :look: But I'm married now, and also have had this name for 10+ years, so not much use in changing it at this point. :P
