I mentioned in my intro post that I’m a big fan of JC’s books and it seems like a lot of others share that sentiment. If you are not familiar, Kushiel’s Dart is where I would recommend you start. She writes high fantasy set in a reimagined France, there’s amazing character work, an interesting low-magic system, and lots of political intrigue. The main character is a Courtesan who is also an Anguisette, meaning she finds extreme pleasure in pain. There’s a lot of sexy times, spy intrigue, and I really can’t recommend her work highly enough.

Yup, I'm a fan. I especially admire the last in the first trilogy, and the last in the second trilogy. I've only read the first of the third, I should follow up on that one.

I adore these books. She's working on a book that retells Kushiel's Dart from Joscelin's point of view, entitled Cassiel's Servant, and I'm super excited about it.

Ok I really love all of the first trilogy but the scene in the first one with Phedre and Joscelin in the cave is just... mm. So good. It is everything.

Dammit now I want to reread them. I do think I have Kushiel's Dart at least as an ebook.

I own all of them, they're just back in Virginia. I didn't bring hardly any books with me to Sweden.

I have lost count of how many times I've been recommended these books. I have been thinking what to use my next Audible credits for too. Guess I know now. :lol

I follow JC on Facebook, and about a decade ago I was at work (I was a radio news reporter so having FB up was NBD) and I saw her post ‘new to giveaways but the first person to respond gets an ARC (Advance Readers Copy) of Kushiel’s Legacy. I responded ‘me?’ And sure enough, I was the first responder. She sent me the book and we have been occasional correspondents since then. Still haven’t met her IRL, but I certainly would love to.

People commenting after me did the math and apparently I replied within three seconds of the post being made, lol. Just hit refresh at the right time, hehe.
