Due to my own change in role it's time to recruit a new Mistress or Master of Revels for Britain and Ireland. I truly believe this to be one of the most fun and rewarding positions in the Tower. In the end, the job is to plan parties for your friends. They can be very big, very complex parties, and they can be stressful, but they are always rewarding, and one of the strongest ways to build our community in person. If you are interested in applying, please see the information below. If you have any questions or would like to talk more about the position, please feel free to e-mail me atevents@tarvalon.net.

If you wish to apply for this position, please e-mail events@tarvalon.net, keeper@tarvalon.net and amyrlin@tarvalon.net with the subject line "APPLICATION - MoR BRITAIN AND IRELAND - YOUR NAME HERE" no later than20th January 2013. Please include how you fit the requirements listed below and any thoughts or ideas you have about the Department in general and for the future of Britain and Ireland events. You may include a resume if you think that would be helpful to us, but it is not required.

DESCRIPTION
The MoR – Britain and Ireland is responsible for planning our British or Irish Euro event each year, traditionally held in March / April. This is an Admin level role and reports directly to the Director of Events & Conferences. This role is responsible for training and managing the Local Liaisons and committee groups for each event.

This person will be a member of the Department of Events & Conferences team, and work with the staff of the department, event volunteers, Keeper and Amyrlin to plan the event, end to end. Each event is approximately a year long process, from solicitation of proposals, selection of location and facilities, contracting with site, registration & administration, crisis management and planning of the event schedule itself. The MoR-BI will also help to develop the MoR manual with what he/she learns.

REQUIREMENTS
- Must have attended at least one official real life event. Helpful, but not required, is attendance at more than one event. Even better is attendance at more than one kind of event (Summer Euro vs Winter Euro vs Anni, etc.). Better still is serving as staff of an event through committee work or similar.
- Must be a member in good standing for at least one year (you do NOT need to be a senior member).
- Must be able and willing to travel to each UK event at your own expense. The cost of the tower event (“event ticket”) is covered for MoR, but not transportation, non-event expenses etc.
- Must be professional. Responsibilities of this role include representing our community with outside organisations such as lodging options and vendors, and potentially negotiating contracts with these groups. In addition you are held accountable for the responsible management of the funds our members pay to attend events. Professionalism, high-performance, and self-starting are mandatory.
- Must be detail-oriented. You must be able to think logically through the entire event and all needs for members. Everything from transportation, food, activities, payments, registration, marketing, budgeting, materials, decorations, room assignments, negotiations with the site, etc. Almost all of the MoR work is done well in advance of the event.
- Must be organized and discreet. There is a lot of information to keep track of, including legal contracts with the facilities, schedules, and registration information including medical and personal data which must be kept confidential.
- Must be a team player. Although you may only have one event a year that falls in the BI area, there are always events in the planning across the department and it is beneficial to all the events to have more hands on deck.
- In the absence of a bid, the MoR – BI is responsible for finding a location and acting as both MoR and Local Liaison in this instance.
- Must be able to dedicate at least 10 hours per week to this role. This role has some flexibility in when things must be done, but with the magnitude of the events, the work load is significant, especially on the run up to events.

Good luck to those that apply!
