I'm brand new to the site. There's a lot to explore. I've been reading (and buying) the Wheel of Time series for 20yrs. After hearing about the site over the last year or so I've finally taken the plunge and signed up. My next step (next week probably) will be to pick an avatar pic.
Any hints on where on the site to explore first, important things to read after theFAQS and Membership manual?

Hi Lei'Le! Welcome! :)

20 years, very nice. A book series this good deserves that sort of dedication and time, yes indeed :pleased-1:

Personally, I'd recommend checking out the Discussion Halls. You can see if there is anything in there that you might be interested in - there's usually something for everyone. It's also a nice place to mingle with all sorts of people, from guests and citizens to Aes Sedai.

Very glad to have you here!

Welcome to another long time fan! I've been reading the books since sometime in the 1990s ... so quite a long time now. :P The book discussions, although not particularly active, are always fun to explore. If you have read all the books, I suggest checking out the current reread thread: https://www.tarvalon.net/showthread.php?21216-Re-Readalong-A-Crown-of-Swords-Chapters-17-21 We are up to Crown of Swords right now, and discussing together as we read. Spoilers for the whole series abound, so beware!

Another great place to explore is the Tar Valon Times: https://www.tarvalon.net/content.php?115-tar-valon-times That is our monthly newsletter where we talk about the things that have happened on the site recently, interview some of our members, and share articles about all sorts of topics. I'm the Editor, so I'm a bit biased, but I think it is a great read. :P

Feel free to jump in conversations anywhere though - we are a friendly bunch and we like getting to know new people. :welcome

I've been reading the series for over 20 years, also.

The one main thing I can point out is the "subscribed threads" link. If there are any threads you posted in, you can click this and see if anybody has posted after you.

Welcome! It's nice to meet such a dedicated WoT reader :pleased-1: Both Book Forums and the Discussion Halls are good starting places that will give you a taste of our community. Have in mind that if you decide to become a citizen you will have access to even more exciting places. Plus we have cookies :D If you need help with finding an avatar, I will be happy to help you.

Welcome and what a great name! With a 20 year's investment into the series, you will fit right in here! :)
We have people help you with avatars and signatures who will have left a few details by now, so nothing left to say but: Welcome!

Welcome to TV.Net, Lei'Le! :D Others have pretty much pointed out everything, so I'll join Inanna since I don't have such an awesome welcoming emoticon. :look:

How did you start reading the Wheel of Time? :)

Hi, Lei'Le, and welcome to Tar Valon! :D Since you are a long time fan...have you been to Jordan*Con? It's a great place to get to know other WoT fans and have great geeky discussions about it.

Welcome to Tar Valon, Lei'Le! We are very happy to have you. I am sure you will fit right in. :D You were already awesome enough to get informed about the way our community works, which is highly appreciated.

The others have said most of what's important, but out of my own curiosity, I will direct you to this thread.

Again, welcome, and enjoy your time!

*Whispers to Amina* I wonder how long it will take for this one to be pocketed...
