Hello, everyone my name is Ashara Koh'inor and I recently joined with my daughter Elyss Koh'inor whose eloquent post preceded mine by at least a day or so. Joining TarValon.net is like a dream coming true as I am sure many of you have heard before. Although I have always enjoyed many genres of literature I immediately fell in love with WOT and wanted to leave my own world behind. I am a Naturopath here in NC, but I am also an artist and have degrees in painting and literature as well. In fact, I would probably be a perpetual student if I had the time, the money, and the ability to travel around the world to all the schools and places I long to see.
I began reading WOT in the late 90's when my daughter was was very young and I was expecting my son (I am just starting my 5th reread). Jordan's world was so real and I was so caught up in it that often while reading TEOTW I would wake up frantic that my child would be born being able to channel. I had a real problem with the Reds for a long time just being the mother of a son! As Elyss commented in her own post, my son is very similar to Mat however, just enough to make one worry. Just the other day I heard her ask him if he would ever let a badger loose during a festival. He paused briefly, smiled that crooked smile of his and replied, "Yeah, probably." I don't know which bothers me more - the fact he would or the fact he didn't pause to consider what an odd question it was...
Elyss is so much like Egwene, both in physical description and manner, that reading WOT has been a blessing and then also difficult. They are both amazing young women I admire. Elyss is already quite the author herself, a wonderful seamstress, and all around great craftswoman. I passed on WOT to her when she turned 14. I had waited and waited for that moment! For her 16th birthday all she wanted was a trip to Jordancon so that is what we did this April and we had a great time! I see in her post that Elyss also mentions that I am pretty much a dead ringer for Nynaeve and although at one time I would have bristled at the idea, I cannot deny it. Whether through our similarities or Jordan's character development, or both, she became one of my favorite characters.
Thank you again for taking time to read this and welcome us. We both look forward to becoming part of a community that has been developed through such dedication, love, and hard work.

It's lovely to have both of you here!
Very few go to such lengths when joining a community, and I am very glad to see how seriously you take it. If I may say so, this community is one of the best I have ever been part of, and as such, I hope you will enjoy it as much and choose to stay. You and your daughter are more than welcome.
