I'm sorry if this is available somewhere; I have done a basic search and checked the FAQ but either it isn't there or I am a poor sleuth. The question is:

Is there a guide of some sort for BBCode/HTML usage on this forum? I know a bit of BBCode from other forums but not many of the specifics for here. For example (and here's what drove me to ask): how do I code a line break into a post on TV?

Hey Bruce!

We don't have a guide because when we switched to the current iteration of the forums, we switched to a pretty robust WYSIWYG style editor. You can insert line breaks by just pressing enter (unless this isn't working for you and then we might have bigger issues that tech people need to look at?). For instance, in your post above I see a line break between "is:" and the start of your question.

If you do want to use BBCode, you can click the icon in the top right corner of the edit box that looks like a piece of paper with its corner folded, and it'll switch you to the BB editor, in which you can use standard BBCode.

Does that answer your question? Is there something specific you're trying to do that you can't with the standard editor?

Thank you Eluial Sedai - and I see. I made a mistake in my post. I said line break, but what I meant is a page break. Like a dividing line between two distinct parts of the same post. I'm sorry for the confusion! And yes, the line break is working haha.

Oh, hmm, not to my knowledge, and a quick google search looks like BBCode doesn't have that capability by default. I've seen people do various things to indicate a page break, though. Either putting in a few dashes like:

------------

Or a lot of line breaks like

this.

Or even just splitting it up into multiple posts.

I know on some forums it's
but that obviously doesn't work here. At any rate, no worries! The buttons work pretty well for most things that I want to do except strike throughs which are basically the only jokes I can make about not having a filter

Use a pretty picture instead? Or even just a picture of a plain line.

Although I'm having problems making it a certain width, so I think you'd have to change the dimensions externally. Not an ideal solution because there's extra work involved, but it's one way to have a solid line show up.

Oooh thank you for the suggestion, Elania Sedai! I hadn't thought of using an img tag with just a divider instead. Smart! I'll have to do some research to come up with a stockpile of some of those things.

Not to necropost, but this seems more convenient than making a whole new thread.

I can't get superscript or subscript to work, or find any button in the editor to insert it. Neither [sup]this[/sup] nor [super]that[/super] is working. The editor's + dropdown suggest <>code</> but this nor <super>that</super> is working, either.

How to sub/superscript??
