Just started listening to tEotW; my first time listening to an audio book. I really like it so far, but audio books are crazy expensive. I get a little sad now whenever they first start to leave Emonds Field, and Rand is thinking that he'll come back one day. I always flash forward to the fact that he never does get to return. Also realizing that I have mispronounced a ton of stuff for over 20 years! =)

A lot of the words get pronounced differently over time too. Aram's name is pronounced "A-ram" vs "Ar-am" in the first few books, for example.

I'm also listening to the same book in the car (leaving Baerlon), and I cry constantly for my dear sweet children. They think everything is the worst possible thing. I want to protect them and there's not a thing I can do. But they do take care of themselves well enough, I suppose.

So far my most poignant moment was Rand and Egwene promising to look after each other as they left Emond's Field. Just...... *gross sobbing*

I am listening to the audiobooks myself. I am on book 7. But I am also an avid audiobook fan so I know how to really get immersed. I had never known how to pronounce Faile and used to just not say any name for her in my head. So now atleast I know that.

No some people turn their noses up at them say oh its not really reading. Some cant get immersed in a story that way. I think they take a bit of getting used to.

I just really never have the time to sit and open a book for pleasure these days. I will again I am sure but for now I can still enjoy stories while physically doing other tasks. It can definitely make cleaning the house or other menial task a more enjoyable experience.

Plus there are are amazing narrators and then some not so talented ones that can really make or break a book. Sometimes a well done audiobook can make a story better than it originally was.

Occasionally you might jist run into a reader whos voice you just cant stand. I dont really have this issue but others have.

I can recommend some really well done audiobooks for first timers. I also have a vast audiobook library now that if you message me I can send you a few to try out.

I usually start my audio books in the beginning of the day... It is a lovely peaceful way to start the day.
The problem is, I tend to just sit and listen, sometimes almost an hour before getting my clothes on :look:

Aduiavas sometimes during really intense parts I find myself standing still in the middle of a room staring off into space. Mostly though I can do anything while listening to an audio book now. In fact I can not stand cooking or cleaning without something to listen to. I also listen to podcasts for news, politics and current events.

Yeah, I would not recommend listening to Towers of Midnight in the morning if you have an appointment... :look:

I was sceptic about listening to the audiobooks, but now I love it :D Everytime I have to do some work (either at work or at home) I just go to autopilot and listen to the story, and the work is finished so fast :D
I do not like how some names are pronounced though, and as Devonna said some names are pronounced differently in different books - I remember Moghedien was pronounced one way in book 4(5) and the another way in book 5(6) and then back to the first way in the next book :cheeseeni:

yesterday I finished book 10 and I didn't have book 11 to listen to, so I just re-listened to some chapters from book 6, when Egwene meets Gawyn in Cairhien in book 6. They are just so cute :look: :D <3

I actually find all or most of the books couples nauseating. I mean ok I am exaggerating. Plus I dont feel so romantic these days. Maybe another time I would feel differently.

I haven't had as much opportunity to read the past couple years, and I had never done audio books before; they have let me get a lot more reading done considering I have an hour long commute each day, and I can listen in the car. I have only done audio books for books that I had read previously though.
