Nope, although I think we generally get a booth there. We host several events each year for our members. For North America we just had Fall Ball in Grand Rapids, MI as a tourist-style event and then we'll have our Anniversary Party in the spring in Idaho that's more reunion-style. The locations change each year based on bids from members.

I guess my backstory would be I am a former Accepted who learned what she could from the Tower to keep from hurting herself, then decided that being a protector was more her style, so petitioned to leave. She then requested entry into the Tower Garrison and viola! Recruit, then Soldier Ana was born! Ana is probably Cairhien, cause she/I is/am short with pale skin and dark hair.....

Right back at you Ana, I like the story!

yeah I need to work on my backstory as well I have been a member for so long that my backstory has probably changed a few times in between :P

But I imagine myself as a wandering the world Gray Aes Sedai, who finally decided to come back to the Tower to help in any way she can! Probably in a few years she will go away again and people will not see her for a few years....again :P

So glad to have you here! I am a novice, and have been for a while, I keep getting distracted from my studies so it's taken me a long time to progress up to accepted. In real Life I'm Beth and I've spent half my life reading these books and no I'm finally near the end! I have mixed feelings about it, but as I'll finally be able to take the test for Accepted here I can't wait!!

If I had to pick a backstory for Cahalan (I've loosely role-played characters with this name before), I'd go with this one: she's a daughter of a High Lord of Tear. They happened to be at the Stone when the Dragon Reborn came to claim Callandor. She and her handmaid almost got eaten by Trollocs when the Dragon himself killed them. Such close proximity to him did two things: his ta'veren pull helped her manifest her ability to channel, which she did to save her injured handmaid's life, and she became completely obsessed with the Dragon. She ditched her life in Tear, ran away and eventually joined up with the Dragonsworn.

She eventually figured out they were just a bunch of nutters, and traveled with a menagerie for a while as a fortune teller until an Aes Sedai found her and dragged her off to the Tower.

I recently re-read The Handmaid's Tale -- well, "read," since it was on audiobook this time around -- such a great book! I don't think I've heard of the others -- looking them up now!

In return, my super-fun recommendations from recent or recent-ish reads: Six of Crows for fantasy, and A Study in Scarlet Women for a really fun, gender-bent take on Sherlock Holmes. I haven't managed to read as many "serious" books this year because I simply haven't had the brain space.

Six of Crows is actually my next read, right after Sleepy Hollow and other short stories by Washington Irving.
And I'll look up that second book right now!

Aw, thank you :kiss I was sure that I'd fail miserably at my reading goal this year, but received a pleasant surprise upon finding that I've finished 48 so far! (plus about half a dozen half-finished ones... whoops) One of my interviewers for this job bet that I couldn't keep up with my 50/year usual once I started, so I have to prove him wrong.
