I had a disk failure Wednesday night, and so I had to reinstall Debian yesterday. Decided to use open source chromium instead of the Google Chrome package (Why not, after all? I kept Flash disabled all the time anyway, and I think the only other thing I've noticed Chrome not having vs Chromium is H.264 video which doesn't seem to be a problem either, at least not with YouTube - might as well use the open source package built just for Debian.)

Noticed a couple of oddities since then:

1) As I noted in the forum bugs thread, I no longer appear to be able to use the username autocompletion when sending PMs. Even if I type in the full first name of a Tower member, not just a couple letters, I still don't get a complete option.

2) The WYSIWYG editor no longer appears to work correctly (the Standard Editor option appears to work just ducky, though). In particular, any multi-paragraph post gets rammed together into a single paragraph with no line breaks at all ...

Did something change in vB the last couple days or is there some specific detail in the official binary Google Chrome that doesn't work with the open-source edition? :brown-blink:

Ama, I was able to confirm the chromium failure to complete names in the PM box. Not sure what that is about. I need to write some text to test the paragraph issue here in the editor. Herm, its hard to come up with lots to say when put on the spot.I dont know how long a paragraph you ment so I am just going to do a few lines. Did you have to use any formatting tags? Now that I look the toolbar is missing too. It looks to also push all my text to gether when I hit the "go to advanced" from the quick reply page... or when you hit preview.. interesting.

Hmm......So I just upgraded my phone this morning and so far Chrome seems to be picky about the double postin mainly withe the older versions.....? I *think* I've just had the one message about the double post today and that may have been with my old phone.

:cheeseeni:

Edit: Nope, still getting the double post complaint. Got it with this post, in fact. :\

Looks like a known issue at some point in the past with chromium.. I see a number of articles online but they are all generally older. Maybe some dependency?

P.S.: Chromium works perfectly on the site in stretch (Debian Testing). None of the past issues have recurred, and I've been running stretch for about a month now. :)

This appears to be a jessie specific issue - IOW, if you're a Tower member and want to run Debian Linux, you most likely want to run testing, not stable. (Besides, testing's really stable enough for general personal use anyway.)
