Okay, so this is really obnoxious, and I'm wondering if it's just me.

Any time I change the font to bold or italic (as above), and continue to type, *any* key I touch other than a letter key will take me back to the changed format. It just did it!

On my last post, I italicized something (using the keyboard shortcut instead of ). I made a spelling error and hit the backspace key - and my cursor jumped to the last non-italicized letter and deleted *that,* instead of what I'd just typed. So I put that back, moved my cursor to the spelling error, fixed it, and continued typing. Made *another* spelling error, hit backspace....and went back to my italicized words.

On this post just now, I typed carefully to avoid errors. I successfully wrote my entire sentence, including hitting Ctrl+i to start and end my italics, and added the period. Then I hit the return key for a new line....and the cursor jumped back to the italicized section, putting the line break there.

I've noticed it does this whenever I bold, italicize, or underline. It does it whenever I use Ctrl+whatever key, but I really prefer to type everything out in-line instead of going back and adding the formatting with the buttons (and I'd rather not have to type [stuff in here] while I'm posting). :look:

Anybody else?

No, this happens to me all the time. It's why I use the old-school bbcode. If I want to italicize something, I actually use [.i][./i]. It's been a thing ever since the forum switch to vB.

If you go into "SETTINGS" > "GENERAL SETTINGS" and look for "Miscellaneous Options"

Under "Message Editor Interface" change the settings to "Standard Editor". You might find you have less issues that way. :)

Although it might not be a perfect solution... >.>

It's not just me! Hallelujah. (I kind of thought I might be crazy.)

vB's text editing options have perpetually been a pain. I type the code as I go, too.

This also happens if you change the colour of any letter in a post like in mafia. Have you ever tried writing a long analytical post when the position of the letter keeps changing :indifferent:

Yeah... I also have this issue, and I just use BBCode as a result.

Also: I just had it happen when I used the shortcut button in the toolbar, so it's not just the shortcuts. Annoying.

While it's been annoying, it hasn't always been this bad. Part of the issues might be incompatibility with our new server software too.

Remember, there are alternative text editor options - none, standard, and enhanced. I would suggest trying others out if the one you're using is too wonky.

(I just deal with it. The only time it really affects me is when I'm posting in the re-read threads.) /stops complaining now
