Best way to go about getting a reference?

I still have plenty of time, but in interest of getting an answer I'll ask now- Whats the best way to go about getting a senior member Reference? Do they come to you? Do you go to them? Whats the best way to go about it without offending anyone? Thanks!

It can go both ways, but don't feel bad asking for a reference. If you need one, feel free to PM me and we can chat a bit and I'll do it. (It's nothing to stress over, as long as you're legit or hide your axe murder tendencies well. )

Yes, you can You'll lose that when you enter the Tower as a Novice, but you'll get it back as an Accepted and for the time being it's a great place to get to know folks

That might also help you We don't bite.. well, okay, we might if we're bored, or asked nicely, or some other reason. But interacting with other Senior Members on the boards, in IRC.. or even in real life if you can is the best way to forge those friendships.

I know when I needed two references, I looked to see who was fairly active and PM'd them and got to know them a little better etc. I think I mentioned I was also looking for references when I PM'd them.

They best way is to just random PM an SM that seems friendly, and chat a bit. That's how I found mine.

Just kidding, doesn't make you a loser! That's what I had to do :P I only seemed to be interacting with junior members and knew one SM irl. But yeah, people here are a chatty bunch, most of us, so just PM someone like the others said. And chat is a GREAT place to meet new people as well.
