Where do/did you find these pictures?
I have been searching the internet for nice pictures, but can't seem to find one I like...

You could always check open domain artists. There are a lot of Pre-Raphaelite artists that are used for avatars. Also, there are a lot of people that have the links to their artist as a part of their signature. Check out some of those as well.

Permission is usually pretty easy to get on Deviant Art as there's more hobby artists and they respond to their messages
