Having read the prologue, are we any closer to finding Demandred? I'm leaning toward him being Asunawa. This isn't based on any theory or evidence, it's just that Galad's story line has been going on forever and not much has really been resolved, and now that he's let himself be arrested, his story has taked a big step backwards after him killing Valda. I just want Rand to drop by, recognize Asunawa as Demandred, chase him off, and just move the Whitecloaks forward storywise.

People say Perrin's storyline has been dragging on, but Galad has done nearly nothing for 12 books now.

Besides, other than the Borderlanders, Demandred is running out of places to hide. Aside from the Black Tower of course....

Actually given all the evidence we do have I think he is actually in Murandy either pretending to be the king or acting as a adviser to him and controlling him via compulsion. The best evidence for that was in The Gathering Storm during The scene where Moridin called Graendal to his fortress in the blight. Demandred says that his rule is secure and he is gathering his forces. The only nation not at war or suffering strife are those Rand controls and Andor. Which Leaves Murandy and the pact that the king there made with the Band Of The Red Hand we heard of in Path Of Daggers. That secured the rule of the nation by binding the noble houses to the throne.

Not much chance of that.

Crossroads of Twilight book tour 16 January 2003, Dayton OH - Michael Martin reporting
Q: Have we yet seen the alter-ego Demandred presents to the Third-Agers on-screen?

A: NO. (I asked twice to make sure.)

We met Asunawa long before that. I can't say I've noticed anything that would make me think Asunawa was replaced in either of the last two books.

Yeah, I didn't really think it was Asunawa, I just want Galad's story to stop waffling around.

Im thinking along the same lines as An'drea. Murandy seems the only possible place for demandred. Galad I think will be okay, Asunawa will try to villify him but either his men or possibly Elaine? will help him out. I would love to see him name Asunawa a darkfriend :)

There is something in the newly released chapter 2 that might point one way or the other on this subject, but as spoilers were not defined, I want to give people a chance to listen before going into more depth :look:

I have always wondered, there are places we dont see ever, like Shara or the Land of Madmen. could be thats where Demandred set up camp. Wed have no way of knowing. there are more places than Seanchan, Aiel Waste and the main continent. Could be hes on Tremalking, Cindaking, the Sea Folk Isles. Weve never gone into depth there, so we have no idea of military structure, leaderships, etc in those places, except that Shara doesn't allow outsiders, so it is safe to say they are hostile to "wetlanders" already. Could be they are Demandreds forces. Since ports there are walled, no one might know their dispostion

He may not actually be in disguise. He may classically using his proxies (Of which Roedran may be one, I always thought he was behind Masema too) to do his fighting for him and be hidden well away.

Of course, in reality we are nowhere closer to Demandred's identity or his whereabouts. Only that he is the greatest general in the world and that he will bring the full force of the shadow against the Light's top captain, Mat Cauthon.
