Re: Announcing our 2010 Fundraiser!

Alyccea,

I understand your concerns. I realize that many who are not in NA would not be able to benefit directly from this award. There are many who are *in* NA who also can't go to the event. My hope is that for anyone who wins this, it will add extra incentive to get there if possible. But it's not always possible, and that is why we made sure to make this fully transferable. If you win, but can't go -- no matter where you live -- you can give it to a friend instead.

I am of the firm belief that we should not penalize members because everyone cannot easily participate. We had a very rare opportunity this year, due to the location of our 10th NA Anni party. Quite frankly, I wanted to take the opportunity while we had it. And I think it would be unfair to the members going to Anni if we could offer this, but didn't, simply because not everyone can get to the event.

There are many other incentives that are equally accessible to everyone. This is only one of the incentives.

If you have further concerns, please send me an email. And if you have ideas for how we can include members more in events such as this, I would love to hear your thoughts. :)

And everyone else waiting......

SOON!

Very soon.

Re: Announcing our 2010 Fundraiser!

Okay! Preliminary results are in! I said it would be soon. :look:

We still have some checks trickling in & such, so this number will change a bit. I wanted to give y'all the number so far though, since I know some of you at least are anxious.

The 2010 Fundraiser has raised a total of..........

$5412!!!

Wow! :eek

You did an awesome, awesome job, everyone. In total, we had over 70 members donate to this drive. And I would like to thank all of you. I would also like to thank those of you who have been helping to promote this, and to our matching donors. It is with everyone's work that we were able to not only meet, but surpass, our goal! :joy

The drawing for prizes will happen next week. I want to give some more time for checks to come in through the mail first. I'll be sure let you know when it's happening! Maybe we'll have a party in irc to celebrate. ;)

That is awesome we had that many people participate, and that they were generous in their giving! Thank you to everyone who helped us reach our goal, and to all who helped with this! :hug

What blows me away, too, is that, as I count the names of the folks on the donation page, I've got 82 donors. That's roughly an average of $65+ dollars per donor! That we got that many people to donate is wonderful, and that en masse everyone was as generous as they could be really does show!

I'm very proud to be a part of this community.

I'm glad that we could raise so much! :D I, for one, enjoy this community being free. I couldn't be a part of it otherwise, and that would make me very sad. I've had some of the best times of my life here!

Since we raised so much, when will the free week be? :P

Wow. I just finished reading this thread, and am truly amazed at the work that has gone into this fundraiser. I truly hope I can live up to the expectations of this community.

It was an ambitious goal and one I am glad to see we’ve made. Thanks to all those who donated, its through your assistance that things keep running around here!
