So, this is straight up 75? How far past Atlanta? That involves driving through Atlanta, right? I've never done any sort of city driving, but I'm trying to get my ducks in a row to attend.
Also, someone mentioned the coastal area or Georgia? I looked into stuff around here... Everything on this end of end state that I could find was either too small or decidedly alcohol free.

Yes. About 30 miles from where 75 and 285 merge. Depends on which way you go. You, coming from Savannah, and depending on time of day and construction levels, can take 285 around to 75, or you can take 20 straight into the city to 75. I actually preferred to take 20 when I went up north because it was shorter and though it went through the city I felt it was less nerve-wracking than the bypass. Additional bonus to going through the city: If you have someone with you, you can use the HOV lanes, which tend to be faster. I'd suggest planning on hitting Atlanta in the early afternoon so you don't get caught in rush hour -- which is terrible no matter which way you go.

I don't think my flight gets in until about 8pm though, so by the time I clear all the stuff which has to be cleared and get luggage and stuff, that'd be a late dinner indeed

Depending on whether I drive or fly, I could probably come get you on my way north. The last time I drove up to Atlanta, by the time we arrived it was nearly 8 o'clock. It would honestly be no big deal to stop on my way and get you.
I have a 36 hour drive ahead of me........
