A Note to Senior Members

I know this is off-topic to this thread, but I wanted to say as a Citizen (formerly as of day before yesterday ) I wish more Senior Members would come to the forums and threads that Citizens can see.... I see so many names that I don't know, and I'm assuming they are Senior Members staying in their respective private forums. I think Citizens miss out on the opportunity to meet more members and get a really good idea of the different people and personalities that make up the site. So with that being said... I love Tar Valon so much and I am so thankful I found it. I love the people I've met.

There are the Tavern type threads, olde warder and hen. That as a Citizen, Accepted and beyond can see and post in. Only Novices and recruits are not allowed until they progress

It's like a hermitization rule: become a Senior Member, hide in private forums. :P Silly SMs! They wear themselves out from the level grind and take long vacations. But as you go through the ranks, you'll see more of them.

Chat is also a great place to meet people. It's how I met my 2 sponsors back when I was a citizen. One of them still comes to chat fairly regularly. We're always happy to see people drop in.

Yeah, I know that I retreated to private forums once I was no longer an Officer. Dealing with the daily grind in all the forums definitely wore me down, and I took a while out of public forums. A lot of us tend to cycle through being more active in public forums and being less active. Events such as anni bring us out in greater numbers.

If it's any comfort, I post in the private forums with about the same frequency as the public ones. :P

A major part of the problem, and the reason I don't post more is because it feels like about 99.9% of the threads on the site are based around spam, inside jokes, or just random stuff....*especially* in the forums that citizens can see...and it's just not that enjoyable to me. It's not that I don't like y'all, because I'm sure I would....it's more that I just don't know what to talk about, and just trading emoticons or random comments gets boring after a while.

I do lurk in the discussion halls (all but the sports one, really) because the threads there actually have a topic/some substance besides emoticons...if more people participated in those you'd probably get to know me better. I also lurk in chat a lot, but it feels like that's awfully quiet for the most part.

For my part, I have just two or three public forums where I participate (or even lurk), but if you're there you've almost certainly seen me. That's really been the case since I was a Recruit. It's just a question of right place, right time.

I in no way meant this as any kind of chastisement or anything negative! I'm so sorry if it came across like that.... I was just saying that ... oh hell, I don't know what I was saying. I guess I was seeing a whole bunch of names at the bottom, where it shows who's on, but I never actually saw those people... I'm a tad over-eager and want to know everyone, or at least most everyone.

I do apologize if this was taken in the wrong context. Ninya Sedai I understand what you mean about some of the forums.... some days it feels good just to goof off. I have posted in the CE forum (*salute Kelgan Gaidin*) and some of the others on the General forum, but I"m not a gamer, I have only basic knowledge of computers, and I think I'm older than 95% of the people on here, so I don't get a lot of what's going on like in the Entertainment/Technology threads. So I feel kind of inadequate I guess to post on some of those forums.
