Definitely read the book first. I've just rewatched the movie (you inspired me to!) and it is the most beautiful thing ever. And it's very true to the book. But there are probably at least fifteen ways that the book is better than the movie, and only exactly three ways that the movie is...

:lol Thanks Maple! And welcome to you (too)! I highly recommend The Martian. The movie is AMAZING and the book is EVEN MORE SO MUCH HOLY PHWOAR BETTER. Plus, Sean Bean is in the movie, for a particular scene, and hilarity ensues. :giggle ;)

Oh my god. Right now it would be The Martian by Andy Weir, or the Mars series by Kim Stanley Robinson. Pretty much any semi-realistic Mars-based science fiction. <3

I double-checked last week to see if perhaps I could donate blood again under certain conditions (e.g. being off certain medication, my UC being stable for a certain period of time, etc.) but alas, no dice. For now, at least, I'm permanently unable to donate blood again. So if there's anybody...
