    December – Simply COEXIST

Thanks, Polegnyn, for posting this for me. In the spirit of the thread, let me wish everyone peace and joy at this time of year regardless of your worldview in life. To quote The Doctor, we're once again "Halfway out of the dark."

S1E8, The Eye of the World, with book spoilers

Weak areas of the finale, in my opinion: -Pacing was rushed, could have used two episodes -Mixed messages with the Blight: don't touch anything, but we can sleep on the ground? -Confusing visuals with Nynaeve's healing. I don't at all think she was dead or burned out, but the visuals were too...

S1E7 “The Dark Along the Ways” —w/Book Spoilers

Something else I kept meaning to brag on about this episode is how well-written Egwene's speech was to the EF5 in their rooms (before the love triangle reared its head). Listening to it I began to realize how well she was organizing her thoughts and persuading the others and I was like, "Wow...

S1E7 “The Dark Along the Ways” —w/Book Spoilers

The Aiel were never my number one thing I loved about WoT, but that cold open was the most amazing choreographed fighting I've seen on screen in a very long time. It sold the Aiel as incredible warriors without ever speaking a word. I can't wait to see how they portray the extended culture in...

Season 1 Episode 6 “The Flame of Tar Valon” with book spoilers

During a Twitter re-watch party tonight, Sarah Nakamura said that on the show it has been changed so that a woman channeler can only feel the ability in another woman if they are actively embracing the Source. She said the change had good reason behind it and we would see those reasons in time.

Season 1 Episode 6 “The Flame of Tar Valon” with book spoilers

I do want to say I adored the first sequence at the Tower, with Logain and the questioning of the three AS. Every single actor killed it in that scene, and Siuan had exactly the kind of gravitas and regality the show has built up the Amyrlin to have.

Season 1 Episode 6 “The Flame of Tar Valon” with book spoilers

Did I miss an in-episode line or explanation for how Moiraine knows where to go find the Eye of the World? Is it just a known location in the show for AS, like Shayol Ghul, instead of a moving location? (Maybe it's the stand-in for SG here?) I'm pretty impressed they introduced a powerful...

    S1E5: "Blood Calls Blood" - w/Book Spoilers

I think the show must be presenting it as a hallucination, which I don't really like. Because as others pointed out, Rand didn't notice it, and when he looked back Logain was once again perfectly still and not looking up. Maybe we can charitably read the show's take as a mixture of the dagger...

    S1E5: "Blood Calls Blood" - w/Book Spoilers

I read Liandrin's touching of Moiraine's face and hair to be a power move, kind of the way you sometimes see between men in a corporate setting when the ladder-climber steps up to a rival and while talking to them also takes initiative to brush off their jacket or straighten their tie for them...

    S1E4: "The Dragon Reborn" - w/Book Spoilers

I think it's either the way his version of the madness manifests, or else I'm wondering if it's two Forsaken actively working to corrupt him and spread chaos.

    S1E4: "The Dragon Reborn" - w/Book Spoilers

I just asked Sarah Nakamura, a fan consultant on the show, about that final scene on Twitter and she specified that Logain could *not* see Nynaeve's weaves there, but his reaction (shielding his face, etc) was to the raw shockwave of energy and debris flying away from her.

    S1E4: "The Dragon Reborn" - w/Book Spoilers

Well that was a heck of an episode. Everything was just cool. After this ep I think it's clearly established that Green Ajah gonna wreck you up in a battle. My wife hasn't read the books and is watching along, after I explained that the warder kind of went berserk after his AS died and that...

    S1E3 "A Place of Safety" -- w/ Book Spoilers

When Dana revealed herself in the room with Rand, was I the only person who had a momentary moment of panic thinking, "OMG they're bringing in Lanfear earlier than anyone expected!!"

    S1E3 "A Place of Safety" -- w/ Book Spoilers

I was re-watching some of the scenes a second time, and this time around I got proper tingles at the first time I get to hear someone in a show out loud refer to "the three-fold land" and actually say "May your soul find water and shade." I was never even a big Aiel person, but that's proper...

    S1E3 "A Place of Safety" -- w/ Book Spoilers

Yeah they're using real world swear words in the show so far but none of the in-world ones. The references to Light seem to be the extent of it. I can get behind the show not using Emond's Field because a common task in adaptation is to reduce the number of new names for an audience to learn...

    S1E2 "Shadow's Waiting" -- w/ Book Spoilers

Yes I was generally puzzled by how the AS was captured. Forkroot was my first thought but it's not been namechecked or even hinted at in the show yet. Shielding isn't an option. I actually wonder if the show is leaning on the idea that AS handicap themselves with their channeling hand motions...

    S1E3 "A Place of Safety" -- w/ Book Spoilers

Ara, I don't think they ever actually say it's a mining town in the episode. Dana's speech talks about "digging in the dirt, until one day they cover you in it." So yeah, might not actually be mining at all. On the episode, I really liked a whole episode centered around character development...

    S1E2 "Shadow's Waiting" -- w/ Book Spoilers

I want to praise the Whitecloak scene in this episode for Moiraine's illustration of speaking around the First Oath. It's a perfect example to me of a change for the television that foregrounds "show don't tell" so that the audience can see how adeptly the AS can bend their words when needed...
