Both those explanations make perfect sense. It's been years since I've read the series and besides some of the major events, it's like hearing the story for the first time again. That Black Ajah stuff seems pretty foreboding- I know there are some in the camp, but I forget who, and that makes...
Tonight I will open the book up to the map of Ebou Dar and read about Nynaeve and Elayne. Lan is on his way there and Egwene was getting a head massage from Halima when I left off last night (which was really creepy in a Stephen King sort of way, knowing who she really is). Great place to be...
Lord of Chaos is my favorite in the series so far- I've read up through book 10. The ending is so EPIC!!
I just read the part where Aviendha gets to Salidar and tells Elayne about her and Rand. Elayne's hand "twitched towards the knife before she crossed her arms." I laughed out loud at that...
Hey again,
Man, I'm in three leagues already and my family wants me to join another, so I don't think I'll be able to join Warderball after all- five leagues would be stretching it way too thin. Like butter scraped over too much bread. I'll take this year to build better acquaintances with...
Hey Braedan,
I'm interested in joining fantasy football if there are still spots available. I'm a member, but not yet a citizen- does that matter? Also, what league format do you use- Yahoo or ESPN? I'm most familiar with Yahoo, but willing to try whatever. Let me know if it's cool to join...
That's exactly how I've been falling asleep every night since I started my reread. I end up having to start a few pages back the next day to make sure I didn't miss anything. That point between sleeping and waking usually makes my mind wander into some pretty strange places, that have nothing...
Hey, I'm also almost done with Book 4 of my re-read! Regarding men and women and gender roles, Morrighan brought up a really good point that i hadn't considered before. Men went crazy and broke the world 3,000 years ago and there are no more male Aes Sedai. I think this probably has a bearing...
I just started watching Season 3 of Game of Thrones and it dawned on me that most of the characters speak with a British accent. I hadn't really given it much thought before, but I then also realized that LotR was the same way, and most other fantasy films, except for maybe some Disney...
I agree with ya Xamo, Mat and Moiraine interactions are great! I also like how Rand doesn't take any guff from her later on in book four. Still gotta go with Thom and Mat as favs.
Just read the part in TSR where Perrin visits the al'Seen farm and the old lady Mistress al'Seen uses her walking stick to hit people out of her way. Then she pokes Perrin and is surprised when he grunts. I don't know why, but this elicited a good LOL from me while reading.
Hi,
I'm new here, and I have a quick question- What does the light bulb symbol in front of a thread mean? I looked in the Ask the Tower FAQ and didn't see anything on it, but I also didn't feel the question deserves it's own thread if someone could give me a quick answer via message :p...
I didn't even realize there was a band called Hadouken. That's pretty cool- I looked them up and the name was influenced by Street Fighter. I'll have to check them out sometime on youtube.
My first impression from reading EoTW was, "This is going to be the greatest fantasy series of ALL TIME!"
There were about 10 books out at that point, and I knew I was in for a long haul. And the books just kept getting better and better by each one. I was hooked early on with the first book...
Hi Kass!
Thanks for the welcome! I'm going to get to my avatar this weekend when I have a little more free time (without my boss looking at work :p). I would eventually like to make Citizen status, but it will likely take a while. That's ok, though, I just started TSR on my second...
At the end of TDR, after Perrin saves Faile from the dream world and he returns to the inn and she's there with him, he says, "My falcon." That part got me pretty good. Not really sad, but definitely got me a little misty-eyed.
