Oh, looks like Gone Girl is going to the back of my To-Watch list...

Although I think it's a good one to watch if you prefer to test out her talent. Jane is a simple character, as is her JR one, her performance is great, but Gone Girl helps display her diversity and talent best. If you want to check her out before seeing her as Moraine, I suggest watching Gone Girl. :pleased-1:

I totally understand why you would want to avoid the though Dnae Gaidin!

I definitely want to see Gone Girl, but I think I want to see her as Moiraine first.

Really nice to see the casting for Moiraine. I'm going to try and not care at all about the physical appearance of characters, what fits or not (unless it's super important to the character), and hope that they cast whoever they feel can best capture the essence of the character.

That said, I can totally see this Moiraine working in terms of appearance as well. Gonna be really exciting to see what else pops up soon!

I am getting even more excited to see who they chose to be Lan. I think he will be one of the tougher parts to cast, and cast well. Also, since Mat is my favorite character I really hope we hear about him and the rest of the Two Rivers crew soon.

For my money, the most interesting response is this one, about the accent Moiraine will have:

This is something we talk about a lot. I’d like to build the accents around the lead characters from that place (Rosamund’s perfect RP for Cairhien, our Lan’s accent for the Malkieri, etc). To me it’s always about getting the best performers in the key roles.

So now I'm left wondering if Lan is already cast and with someone who has a non-American accent. :p

I hope they do have Lan cast and I hope they aren't waiting for another #WoTWednesday to announce it since they're only once a month now

For non-book media renditions of we'll known books I have been largely of the opinion that it's really hard to make a print book work 100% for screen. Trying to make Quidditch work, for example. College Quidditch games right now are complete rubbish without proper brooms (fun and entertaining but way more like rugby). With WoT RJ was so descriptive it seems daunting right now but what took him multiple paragraphs to describe will only take a few seconds or less to portray in film. As long as they get the DNA and the essence of the story captured I will be happy with it.

I agree in hoping that they are able to capture the essence of the series. There is so much detail, so much scope, that it will be hard for all expectations to be met by all fans. If they manage to capture the essence, then I'll be happy with that.

Yes, as long as the story follows roughly the same lines, at least for the main characters, I will be happy. Some sideplots can, and must, be dropped, but I hope they don't change the story too much.

All of Rands inner dialogue for instance, will be hard to keep. At the same time, they are important to the story. How he hears the voice of Lews Therin etc...

And some parts, like Faile with the Shaido and much of Morgases journey can be dropped... In fact, many details in book 8, 9 and 10 are easily discarded...

I know, I was so disappointed to see that because I was expecting a new cast member every week
I'm excited for Lan! I wonder if he'll be the next one revealed!

Yeah, I was hoping for a cast member every week too! Especially since I think they're supposed to start production in the Fall? There's a lot of characters to cast  Maybe we'll get a bunch at once.

I think one challenge is what to do with Moiraine's absence. A series like this can't tell an actor they are out of the series for 4 seasons, but have to come back for the final one

They may have to reveal the "secret" and show us scenes of her experiences each season before the final rescue?

Yeah, probably. They did that quite a bit in GoT, right? Like with Theon. Maybe it'll be more dramatic for those watching as well? Moiraine "dies" in season X, then appears again in season Y, when people still remember the emotional impact of the death.

They also changed the timeline of Jaime/Browne so that he wasn’t just a prisoner for a whole season I think.
At least the series is finished, so they know the full role of every character and can make changes on that basis.
There are other characters that have similar issues - make a brief appearance in book one but then have a larger role, but they seemed to have managed that with GoT

Let's hope the whole written series has been read and is being completely considered as it is being developed into a series.
