Four times a year, the Executives (Directors and Officers) meet virtually to discuss the state of the TarValon.Net community. The spring and fall meetings are when we tend to discuss changes that may affect the community as a whole. We like to post the agenda in advance so you, the members, have a chance to weigh in on the topics important to you. You don't necessarily have to stick to the topics listed below; if you feel there's something else we should address, please let us know.

If you're not sure where your concern falls, you may email officers@tarvalon.net, and Li, Toral, or I will send it to the appropriate director. (Cassie can too, she just doesn't supervise any of them directly.)

I hope you don't mind me asking here, but what clarifications for "The Four Pillars" in Marketing, and "Demotee Mentors"...

Part of my goal in Marketing is to come up with a way to (surprise) market the organization to non-members and encourage them to visit us. I've spoken with quite a few Officers and Executives, and I think that we can boil down what our organization has to offer into four distinct categories, which I'm calling The Four Pillars, because that sounded like the cheesy marketing thing to do.

Our Online Community (forums, chat, social media)
Our Real Life Community (international events, local events, conferences)
Our Library (a very thorough resource that attracts quite a few members already)
Our Philanthropy (we're a community of people that donates quite a bit to charity)

I'm of the belief that pretty much everything that we do, as well as everything that we have to offer, can be put into these four categories. Moreso, I believe that if we incorporate this into some kind of mission statement, it will help guide our actions going forward as we make changes. It also helps everyone kind of know where they fit in, at least on an Executive level. The Department of Community Outreach is basically in charge of our philanthropy, while several Departments assist with Our Online Community. Some, such as Marketing, are outside of these categories, or can be seen as involved in all of them.

At the Executive Meeting, we'll be discussing whether or not these four categories fully encompass who we are and what we have to offer, and we'll see if these can help guide us going forward as an organization.

And with that the meeting is concluded! I'm aiming to release the notes for information and discussion the week of October 7.

My apologies for the delay of the notes. We're getting some input from the Board of Directors on a major point today, and we'll have the notes up within a week.

Thank you all for your patience.
