I'm rereading the Great Hunt and seeing all kinds of foreshadowing about Verrin.
I've done rereads before but it seems more and more obvious each time for both Verrin and Sheriam(sorry about spelling).

Yes, it is very clear in Great Hunt that Verin is lying, but it is vague enough that it can be taken for a misunderstanding.
She says straight out that Moiraine sent her, but Moiraine says at the end that she did not. But all of that is second or third hand information, so we can't really be sure...

I remember that there was a lot of speculation about Verin before we got confirmation. But since hindsight is 20/20, we look back and go "of COURSE!"

So I'm in the Great Hunt as well. I had to stop and look up what happened to Rand in that village.

At first I thought it could be some effect of what had happened to the Fade. Then I thought bubble of evil. So, when I looked it up apparently RJ said in an interview or somewhere (can't remember where) that it was Fain laying a trap for Rand. Holy crap, he is way more terrifying than I remember.

Should all of that be in spoilers? :look:

I just started another re-read tonight. One of the things that surprised me was that there was an addition to EoTW. The "Earlier: Ravens" section. Every other read and re-read I've done were with copies published before 2002. So that part of the story was completely new to me.

I'm also re-reading for the first time since AMoL. I'm on Winter's Heart. I identify with Failed, still. I like a man who I can shout at, and who will shoot back. Mostly. I'm probably more like Tenobia, hance never been married not likely to be. LoL

I've been wondering when the bottom but comes in. Maybe it won't be boring this time?

Also... "Earlier: Ravens"???

It was published in 2002, and the “new” Mass Market paperback edition has it. It centers on Egwene a few years before the excitement in Emond’s Field.

If need be, you can search for it and the search results should bring up a link to Wattpad. I just looked and the whole part is on there.

I'm going to have to look up Earlier: Ravens. I haven't read it and my book copies are uh... old.

Right now, I'm currently stuck in the middle of Lord of Chaos, not because I'm not interested in reading faster, but because of life in general. There are still a ton of things I'm looking forward to reading again.

I'm about to start a re-read! My sister has just started reading the books for the first time, and there's definitely something about seeing someone reading them for the first time that made me want to go back to the beginning. It has been so long, maybe it will be just like reading it for the first time :look:

That's basically what it was like for me. I remembered the big events, of course, but I was consistently surprised by the smaller details I'd forgotten. I think it's easier to get through when it's been awhile, too. It's more fresh and new. I'm enjoying myself with this one.

How does your sister like them so far?

She's loving them! She's just started The Great Hunt, which she insisted that we acquire before she reached the end of the first book so that she didn't have to wait.

I told her she should be glad that she wasn't like us, sitting, waiting, longing for the next book to be released.

She's addicted already.

That's another good thing about a re-read, though. No more waiting.

I went looking for the Companion at a local bookstore, and discovered someone had ordered in 6 of the books. :look: I really wanted to ask who it was, but I doubt they would tell me anyway.

Just hit Knife of Dreams while listening to the audio books. Yay!

I fell asleep listening to the audio the other night, and I had a dream where I recruited Mat to help me find my dog. :look:

Just started Crossroads of Twilight at the weekend. This is my first reread of the series.

The first time i read it, I wasn't part of any pages etc, so I hadn't heard this section referred to as the slog. I've been watching out for it but so far so good. I joined the Reddit group this summer so been seeing a lot of theories / opinions from others that may also be colouring my more mature reading of it.

My first read through I was a teenager for the early books, young adult for the later books. I sympathize more now with the older characters trying to lead the main young protagonists along. On the first read I think I found Rand whiney, but now I just feel deep sympathy for him. I agree with many others here about the change in perception of Nynaeve.

On first read I don't remember noticing the mad amount of bosom descriptions. I do also appreciate a well turned calf.
I dont recall noticing the terrible communication between characters - and now see what a good real world comparison he was drawing!

Super difficult detective challenge: at what book did I catch up with the publishing?
