Why did you pick your name?

I've used Granny Rachel since before Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was first released. I had joined an Amazon UK forum (we were very active for years until Amazon closed them) and I was the oldest in a certain thread thus I was The Granny.

I ran a name generator then modified a few different names to get my first name. Surname was picked from the books (i'll be changing it before long) and was the last name of one of the Malkieri who escorted/raised/trained Lan after Malkier falls.

Because I am Tree.

I chose mine for very specific reasons.

Jacen (Jay-sin), because my best friend growing up was named Jason, and I have lost contact with him for various reasons I won't go into. I miss him dearly, though, and wish we had stayed friends over the years. This is just a way to sort of honor the memory of our friendship.

al'Miere (ahl'Mee-ehr), I chose this because if I ever use the name as a character to role play somewhere I plan on him being half Andoran and half Sea Folk, with his father being from Baerlon, and his mother one of the Atha'an Miere. It will be a way for my to honor his heritage. al'Miere would be something like Son of the Ocean, and also following the naming conventions of many of the people in Andor, using the al' prefix for their last names, i.e. al'Thor, al'Vere, al'Meara.

I have been using the name Cernunnos off and on for over a decade. I'm a sucker for Celtic mythology. I like what Cernunnos represents, and I hate that the Church equated him with Satan.

I joined a WoT chat/forum roleplaying game in 2001 or so and made a novice called Mehja. I used that as a nickname in the off-chat (where we could discuss as ourselves and not our characters). When they realized I was a guy, they called me Mehjad, which soon there after became Mejjad. I've used it everywhere since then.

I suppose most feminine names end in -a, but the gender change seems a bit unnecessary. That's a cool story, though!

Well, that's how it happened. They renicknamed me to Mejjad. I chose to stick with it. Later on, when I was a scout leader my funny (and best) friend introduced me as Mejjad, and they called me that for two years. When I was 20 (I think) I made it official and added it as a second name. Had it on my driver's license until last year. 6 months ago I couldn't really connect with the name anymore, not in the same way as before. So I removed it and went back to my old name. And that's that. <.<

Although I'm enjoying WoT, and loved Robin Hobbs series, my heart is still in The Shire...

I used Imzadi before I joined the site, so I kept it. And my last name? No clue, just needed something, so me and my mentor just figured out something! And I also love the Sea Folks, so guess it was something from there?
