when it comes to HP I was waaay more pissed that they cut out the house elves plot, which resolves in a wonderful way.
Not only that, but makes the Hermione/Ron payoff so sweet. I love that book scene.

Yup, that's what I meant :) It was weird the way they did it in the movie...

The one line I will forever be mad that they didn't include in the movies: "Hermione! You are a girl!" :rofl

Agreed

Anyway, back to casting.... I'm thinking Michael McEahon (spelling) might be Master Luhhan...

Why Master Luhhan, Sorcha Sedai?

I hope he has a bigger role. I could se him as Padan Fain or Ba'alzamon as many have mentioned. People who play that evil roles just looks evil to me afterwards. I had a huge problem with Hugo Weaving as Elrond for years

I don't know, that's just what leapt into my brain, considering there's not a ton of roles in that age range available for a table reading of the first two episodes. Unless they start with the prologue, in which case I could totally see him as Lews Therin or Ishamael.
The current turn uncasted (publicly) roles that might fit and still be in the first two episodes are Tam (who I don't think will be so wildly different than Rand), Thom, Bran, Master Luhhan, Mordeth, Master Hightower, Padan Fain, Dain Bornhold, and the random innkeepers and gatekeepers at Baerlon.

I see, Sorcha Sedai. I hope he's got a bigger role, but I could definitely see him as a calm blacksmith. Some actors try not to be type cast and playing evil in two huge fantasy shows would ultimately lead to that.

A casting agency has apperantly slipped up and announced that Helena Westerman is cast as Laila Aybara.

Perrin had a thing going on with a Laila Dearn before leaving the Two Rivers. When he comes back in TSR she has become Laila Lewin.

The change from Dearn to Aybara has people speculating, obvioulsy. Thoughts?

I wonder if they renamed one of his sisters, to put a face on later events? She's quite pretty, but it would be extremely odd to have him married before they left the Two Rivers. He's already with Faile when his family dies, so having a wife die in that event would make him a cheater and that's really out of character for him. Or they'd have to greatly restructure his relationship with Faile for no good reason.

The theories I've read is that she's a sister or a wife that dies on Winternight. I don't really like or believe the wife option at all.

Maybe everything is just a Red herring :rofl

I can totally get behind the wife who dies on winternight - Honestly, Perrin is such a brooder (2nd only to Rand), it'd be kind of nice to see a really decent reason for it. And Faile would actually make more sense if her fire helped him get past the grief, and his determination to treat her like spun glass would be a lot more understandable, as would her frustration at it until he told her about Laila, and then they could come to terms more organically. As much as I admire the culture of Faile's family, for a lot of people it is the kind of thing that is insurmountable one way or the other (either they don't think women can / should be leopards, or that a woman who is a leopard can't change her spots regardless of reason, and a man alone isn't a good enough reason without the backstory of a widow). I think this will be one of the small changes that they make to appeal to a wider audience.

I feel like since so much of Perrin's emotional journey is inherent and internal, the dying wife will do a lot of explaining about why he is the way he is.

if it is a wife, they should be a bit older though :look: I mean, I don't think people their age are usually married in the Two Rivers :look: At least not for long...

But I hope it is not Perrins wife. It seems like a change for no real reason. He would mourn just as much for a sister...

Rand was just of age to marry, as was Egwene, when the story started. She could be a fiance' and still have it be as poignant. While Perrin would mourn just as much for a sister, I don't see why it would be that, as it wouldn't explain his later actions and behavior and I don't see them just adding characters for shits and giggles. Its one thing to mourn a sister, its another to mourn your love and forever live with the fear of losing that again and having it effect your choices ("The world can burn if it sees Faile safe...")

I was way to assertive in my earlier post. I actually do agree with you, and started thinking in the same lines, Sorcha Sedai. I just got stuck in a pessimistic loop wher3 I feared they would make a teen drama out of everything. I'm over that now, sorry :gigglelook

Not sure where to post about this, so I'll just mention it here. As many of you might know Brandon Sanderson is in Prague now. He posted earlier today that he might post a few set photos soon if he is allowed. I sure hope he is!

:yes at the idea of photos.

(And Sorcha, you're starting to sway me on that idea.)

Ahhh wish we could just know instead of speculating. I heard about around a week ago from my husband but assumed it was just a rumour.

I think the timing of this WoT casting/series could have huge benefits from LOTR, which Amazon is also making around the same time frame. Amazon is spending over 1 billion dollars on this new LOTR series last I checked, and somethings tells me a lot of the costuming and stuff might trickle down to WoT series. Hopefully a lot of things trickle down, extras for casting, CGI experts, etc. A very promising future awaits us as fans I think. I could be wrong, maybe that isn't how it works, but I think studios in Hollywood use extras all the time for various sets no matter the show or movie, I imagine Amazon is using a shared resource pool when it comes to certain things. :grouphug
